pacnsacdave, the creator of this thread and the game in this thread is demanding money for a level and graphics hack of a game that doesn't even belong to him and sells it as his own game (even though it's not).
While ROM hacking in general is pretty questionable in terms of legalness, that's something I have to admit, what pacnsacdave does is right down pirating! And I think he should be permabanned for this!

It is not 100% true. It is true, that the original game is not his...but he has put many hours of work in each of his hacks and repros, and never sold other's work (encluding original material of the hacked games). So, partially, it's his. Creating a repro cart costs a lot, and all of them are made by hand. How much is the profit from it...?

And again, pac is no thief. I know one or two repro creators (or teams), who are indeed thieves, and are making money out of our hacks, even mine, for a living. Yes, believe it or not, once there was a Mega Man Reloaded repro cart, but for some reason that team (no names!) messed up the cartridge (no music at all). When I found it on the net, I asked them to take the listing down. They however, couldn't sell any cartridges. Sadly, there are still many other cartridges of my game lying around on the internet, ready to be sold.

This is what real thieving is (I hope it isn't based on V1.2)...you don't want to see your own hack there sold by someone else, do you, Trinitronity? Oh, and before you misunderstand what I'm trying to tell you...or something...I think I should stop. Actually, I don't even know why I am making this reply right now.

Keep up the good work, pacnsacdave!

P.S.: i will definitely go into evil golden flower mode if you continue like this, Trinitronity. So don't reply to get the good ending. You can't LOAD your SAVE here.

While I would like everyone, including Trinitronity, to cool their heads here (there is really no need to throw around emotionally charged vocabulary such as "thief"...), the two salient issues I perceive here are:

Presumably, the carts that are for sale contain the full ROMs, making their sale subject to copyright/counterfeiting laws. German law has this concept of "interferent liability" (Störerhaftung) which makes forum owners liable for illegal content of posts and links if they can't reasonably claim ignorance and didn't promptly move to remove them, and while I'm not sure if this still applies to a place offering pirated goods for sale, I am not exactly inclined to take the risk, and therefore would treat this the same as a ROM/warez link per the FAQ.
I've seen more convincing attempts at sockpuppeteering than "mASKED x". Somewhere in the FAQ, it says things like "DON'T
- Create multiple accounts unless explicitely authorized to do so by an administrator. Creation of secondary accounts to evade bans will result in a permanent banishment from the board.
- FLAME, or purposefully try to be an ass to people. "
The FAQ is there for a reason; please do actually read it (though I think that logging into a different account from the same IP address to provide air support for yourself is really a Tumblr-level violation of common sense that one should know to avoid without explicit instruction).

I would not have banned him for the former (although I would have and still will scrub the relevant link), but this moronic stunt is really asking for a one-week timeout.
