I tested your hack on my 3ds using nesds 1.3a, the graphics are scrambled and garbaged up badly.

This may help.

Have you tried the latest pc builds FCEUX, Nestopia, Nintendulator? Its most likely the emulator, my work us mmc5 with 1mb of prg/chr-rom.

Yes I use fceux and its work fine, the issue is the current build of nesds special doesn't work.
If you have access to a ds and a flash cart try it out yourself.
I just wish the currenr programmer for nesds would update it for hacks like yours and many others.
If he would open source that it would be mighty helpfull.

Please read my post again, when I said nesds special that is what I meant by 1.3b version.
If infidelts zelda hacks works fine but his recent hack which is this proves to be a different problem.
If you have a ds console why not try it out for yourself and make sure it works ?

Didn't know special was 1.3bfixed and knew you said 1.3a in the post prior so was just checking. Hopefully one or the other gets updated so you can play on your DS.

Neither one currently works for his new hack so until the author of nesds wants to fix his emulator as it stands it won't work.

Not a big deal anyway all I wanted to do is make sure it worked properly and to lend infildelt some feedback from using it.

Thank you for trying.

I hope one day that nes emus, get an MMC5 facelift. I'm having great success with this mapped, and simply refuse to revert back to another. You can do so much with this mapped, the quality and quantity of what you want to pull off, is outstanding. Sorry to all of those that can't enjoy my work, on whatever nes emulator you are using.

If you really think about it your one out 3 hackers here on this forum the nes emulator developers may listen to.
Your rom hacks maybe the key to get programmers to update their program.
I understand that not all programmers understand what you do but if you explain it to them they may upgrade it.

I suggest you get your name out into some game/rom hacking community and display your work.
Still a very good hack though, I looked at your rom with yy-chr you sure do alot of work and the tiles are more neater and easier to find.

I found a bug while playing SMB2J. I made a video of it.

Shortly after arriving at World 2-2, I hit the reset button on the emulator (I'm using FCEUX 2.2.2), and instead of taking me to the titlescreen of SMB2J, which it should, it takes me to World 1-1, and it's a water level. Just thought I'd let you know.

Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3SGpvgMf20

In Mario 2J, if your on any world past 1-1 and reset, not turn off and on the power, or if you pause and reset, not turn off and on the power, Mario will not have his head and when you play, he will glitch completely, sometimes going invisible or showing letters when big.

Oh boy. Yeah ill need to make it so the reset function takes you back to the all-stars intro. The 4 games still have their regular reset vector setups, but I thought I had it fixed awhile back. Thanks guys for the reports, ill try to have an update later today.

As for outdated emulators, I cant hunt down every author, i've tried one time with the Wii emulators, and I've even spoke on multiple occasions with krizz , the Everdrive N8 creator, but nothing has been done from mu requests for proper MMC5 emulation. All I can say is if anyone here is able to contact authors of the emulators, to direct them to my mmc5 projects, or any other mmc5 projects from other developers, to entice them to create a revision to the emulator. Believe me id love for the FCEUX ports for PS3 & Wii WiiU to play my games properly.

Anyway, ill try to release an update today. Thanks again for the reports.

I know how to get in contact with nesds devoloper although he is busy at times.. T
That much I can do and get him to sway into updating it off and on.

I have found no bugs to report so far, but I will play through each game, just to make sure. I do have a few suggestions that would make this more like the SNES version, but are not required to make this perfect.

1: You should try adding the Battle Mode thats in SNES All Stars Mario 3.
2: Have you tried seeing if you can make it so you can go back to past worlds on the game select screen?

Last, on Mario 2J, have you made sure that if you used a warp pipe and save, that you can not go to World 9? On the original FDS game, using a warp pipe will cause you to not be able to go past 8-4, according to GameFAQs. Also, have you also did the same check for Worlds A-D?

Thanks for your reply, but I'm all done with this project and am now moving on.

As for your Mario2j concerns, yes they should workbjust like the .fds. I didn't need to add any checks, since the game already has checks in place. Each time you reach Toad, a specific register is incremented once. If you happen to reach Princess Toadstool via warping, then that incremented register wont have the correct amount of Toads you've encountered, (07) and when you reach the princess, she increments the register as well. So if that register is not 08, then the game will not let you pass to World 9.

I really like your "All Stars" hack. But sadly the only use I see for it s on real hardware since emulators make it easy to run and save all of the games. And then MMC5 becomes a problem. There are no cheap/bad games on it that I know of that are worth cannibalizing to make your game. And I don't know any other way of making a new board that can support that mapper.

A bit sad, since I really would love to see this play on real hardware.

Anyway, great work. But if you feel like porting it to something more common, even if it would be without some of the samples and such then please do!

Well I'm not out to please everyone, nor do I do my work on the assumption it can be played on real hardware. That's not something I have any knowledge on, if repo guys are willing to do all that extra effort to play my work on real hardware, so be it. But I'm not going to change the way I code, I've grown very comfortable with MMC5, you can get away with so much on the nes with it.

As for all stars itself, again, this was something I wanted to see if I could pull off on the nes. I didn't decide to try to create this thinking, (man I'm going to woo everyone with this amazing rom lol) i simply did this to see if i can pull this off in one rom. If people like it, that's great, if not, thats their opinion and I'm totally fine with that. If emu developers really like my work, or other mmc5 projects by other talented rom hackers, then maybe they should go back and create revisions to their emulators.

Anyway, thanks for playing, it's appreciated, I just had to comment on this

To those who tried out my all-stars hack on an actual mmc5 board.

Can any of you confirm that there were no issues within the 4 games? Particularly smb2 j's title screen chr tiles. And in smb2u, when you defeat world 1-1, and then choose another character, do you get major glitches?

If everything is fine, can you please tell me every detail on the materials and soldering of wires performed? Especially the mmc5 board type.

Thank you to those in advance that can respond to this.
