Let me give it another run. Maybe the problem lies on my end. Will report back later.

I did start from scratch though.

EDIT: My bad, I wasn't paying attention.
It does cycle through the worlds and loads them properly. Replayed from scratch again.
However, is it normal that I can open the save menu during the cutscenes?

Other than that, it is fixed from my testing.

Ok great cause I was about to lose my mind if all that didn't fix it, heh. Thank you for being so thorough.

Yes it is normal for the save menu to pop up during the princess cutscene, since you are able to pause regularly during that in the original game. I honestly don't feel like creating more code to cancel that out during that scene, but as long as everything is working, I am content. :-)

Wow! It looks like everything is fixed! I do not think there are any more problems which is AWESOME! Thank you guys for all of your hard work. This is in my honest opinion the best rom as it captures my first gaming experience as the Nintendo Entertainment System was the first console my brother and I received for Christmas back in either 1986 or 1987. i will never forget when we got it because it came with only 1 controller and we were small kids and we ended up fighting over Super Mario Bros. 1 and my uncle had to come and break it up. lol

Thank you to all who helped making this rom 100%! :>

Awesome! I cant wait to see what else you put in. I wonder if it will ever be possible in the future to add in Vs. Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. Special X1 Version. If not it is all good because this rom is my favorite of all time.

I played the newest patch and the unused Lakitu spiny egg toss makes the game more difficult and entertaining. Its awesome how he throws the spiny eggs in front of and behind of where you are running. Thank you! I havnt tested the Super Mario Bros 2 implementation yet.

Thanks everyone. :-) Yeah way more interesting and challenging, I can't tear through 4-1 like I used to.

In regards to SMB2J, it's the exact same code that is switched around, so how Lakitu functions now in SMB, is the exact same in SMB2J.

Haha, yep. I had to actually pay attention in 4-1 for once. Especially the Spinies falling in front of you.

Haha yeah I had a run for my money on the spiny eggs. I had to constantly stop and slow down. My oldest daughter was like "OMG!" lolol

Thanks MrPete! I cant wait to hear the results! :>

EDIT:

Okay I noticed when I select the first file of my save file on Super Mario Bros. 1 and when I hold A while pushing start it starts me on world 8-1. I do not think this is supposed to happen but it is indeed happening.

The A+Start is a normal function of the game. It is primarily used for when you get a game over, so you don't have to start all the way back at 1-1. If I remember, it's constantly running on the title screen.

I was just listening to the ending to Super Mario Bros 2J on Youtube when I noticed something.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W-cW20snPg

I wondered to myself if that sounds like it uses the FDS sound channel, which we all know, the NES cant do without using the FDS itself. Does Super Mario Bros 2J use FDS sound for its ending and if it does, what does this ROM do to make up for the sound loss?

I'll be honest, I've never played smb2j fully on the .fds version, so I can't say what's missing, if you can provide me comparison videos, I'll take a listen.

Just noticed that original Mario Bros. is available via A and Up on SMB, heh.
Why is it hidden like that though?

You know, the MMC5 extra channels could be used to make SMB2j output the missing channel. As it turns out, SMB2j on FDS does have extra sound. The few NSF files have the sound present. Also, due to lack of menu letter space, Mario Bros. had to be made into the Easter Egg it currently is. It used to only be playable using a button combo on Controller 2, and before that only in 2 player in Mario 3, so I am happy infidelity did the feature, plus adding the Arcade Scenes and Hi-Score arcade mode to the SRAM.
