Alright, it doesn't seem like an adapter problem then and most likely will occur on the US EWROM as well, but if you don't mind trying, sure, go for it. Thanks for checking.
EDIT: I've recorded a video using FCEUX to show a problem I had when using the file erase menu on SMB2J. I played all 4 saves normally with Mario, restarted the game, went to the file menu, moved to file 4 and pressed SELECT to erase it. Pressed Yes but the menu was still there except only the cursor was shown. I pressed START and it went away. After closing the file menu the file was not erased at all and when starting a game I could only play as Luigi but instead I played as Mario. Maybe this is relevant to the actual problem and lies within your save/delete routines somewhere instead. Click to View Disregard the sync issues, I used fast forward and though it'd be recorded. |

Thanks for the report, I'll check that out when I can. Good find. Can you check to see if all files return the way the 4th one in 2j is doing? |

Okay, after some more testing I found the saves are being erase properly, however, if you're into the erase menu and press SELECT it shows the file deleted while it's not and the cursor is still displayed as shown in the video. Happens to all games/files.
If I pick a file and erase it with START button it stays erased and the menu is gone as well, no cursor left. |

So are you saying the SELECT button is still enabled during the "ERASE?" mode? |

Yea, it is.
If you have a file, press select and the erase menu appears. Press select again on that file and it shows as NEW (with the menu still there just invisble except the cursor) but if you leave the menu and re-enter, the save is still there. |

Great, that worked.
However, I still play as Mario in a Luigi Only game for SMB2j. If you want, I can send you over the save files to test it. |

If you can, send me a video, and yes send me the save files, and what I need to do in order to trigger this myself. |

Alright I'll check this out tonight. Now tell me exactly what I need to do, in order for this to trigger on my end, because this has never happened on my end. Thanks for the file and video. |

Started File 1, started level 1, saved, reset game. Started File 2, started level 1, saved, reset game. Started File 3, started level 1, saved, reset game. Started File 4 as Luigi Game, started level 1, saved, reset game. Deleted File 4, started as Luigi Game. Played as Mario. |

OK playing on Nestopia 1.45 I was able to reproduce the same bugs with Mario 1 world select and Mario 2J file that I got while playing on my MMC5 cart, using 4/11/2017 patch
Here is what I did: Started Mario 2J file 1 as Luigi save and quit Started Mario 2J file 2 as Mario save and quit Started Mario 2J file 3 as Luigi save and quit Started Mario 2J file 4 as Mario but still got Luigi Next moved onto Mario 1 file 1, used the warp pipes in 1-2 to skip to level 4 used the warp pipe in 4-2 to skip to world 8 Completed world 8 and the world select worked as it should, able to select any world by pressing B, selected 8-1 confirmed the goombas were replaced with busy beetles then save and quit Started file 2 and did a save and quit right away. Loaded file 1 and pressed B and the level select stopped moving at world 2-1, I pressed start and it did load level 2-1 but it was the first quest with the goombas. Did a reset from the emulator menu Deleted file 2 Loaded file 1 and the world select was working properly again |

Ok I was able to recreate the Luigi glitch on 2J. I definitely found an incorrect BEQ. I fixed it, and it seems to have fixed File D.
Mario 1 I took a look at. For some reason the register that let's you use the B button to choose a selected stage is getting cleared. I'll keep checking. EDIT Uploaded 4-12-17. Hoping for good results. Mario 1 & 2J should be all set now. |

Sweet, thanks. Luigi Game and Erase Menu is fine now.
Hope you can get MrPete's glitch fixed as well, since he was able to actually reproduce it on an emulator. |

The Mario 1 one I think, unless you fixed that one as well?
Other than that, no, no more known glitches. |

If you are referring to the B button world select glitch, then yup that's fixed too with this release. :-) |
