Uh... I'm pretty sure it's more than 1 GB considering how long it's taking.

Well care to give an estimated number than ? :/

I don't mean to be a bother again, but I've experienced another issue that I first noticed a few months ago.
When I was checking out the other board themes, my birthday was automatically erased, and now trying to put it back isn't working.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

More global variable weirdness. Should be fixed now; thanks for the report!

Thank you so very much! Sorry again for the possible bother. I didn't mean to rush you or anything. It was just something else that I happened to notice that I thought might have possibly resulted from the server move. You're always right there to take care of things right away! You rock!

I think board2's software should be updated to a newer version of acmlm2.

I'm pretty happy with what it is right now, and probably should stay this way.
We should only upgrade if there's an overhaul of the board.

it's not happening

Kafuka was supposed to be an overhaul of board2, it became what it is now because blackhole89 and Emuz disagreed

that's also why Acmlmboard jumped from 2.1 to 2.5

A disagreement between me and one of Emuz's coders over the details of the badge/permission system (and more generally me being somewhat unhappy with some of his hiring decisions - as well as (if I recall correctly) their insistence that the board be reset/archived and restarted from scratch) was the primary reason for the split between board2 and Kafuka happening to begin with, so this place switching to the version Emuz's team has labelled 2.5 is indeed not happening

I briefly considered introducing my branch of the badge/permission system here, but dealing with its inevitable childhood diseases is really not within my time budget and it's not like there would be any significant benefits from a fancy fine-grained permission control system for our level of activity. As usual, if there are actual bugs or glaring shortcomings, please report them in H/S/B; I'll do my best to fix them.

Black before you respond back harshly, please hear me out.
Based on what I'm staring at in your post, it seems like your avoiding:
A new change,
B newer fixes
C probably anything else beneficial.

Lets say emuz gives you the 2.5 board, also lets say he lets you tweak it or fine tune it to your needs ? :/
You don't need his team or coders input if you don't want it.
However I suggest you find a coder from there with a credible reputation to do the job properly.

Also it wouldn't hurt you to keep your mind open instead of in a closed mind hermit state.
I suggest scrydan assist you with their boards firmware, if you don't like how he works or not seing it work out.
It's all good for the moment, still locate a coder willing to help you out.

I'll admit I don't know your skill as a programmer or coder, but from what your holding onto..
Its like you a crack or holes in the wall, water sputs out of it, bugs climb in it and cause a infestation problem.
I see you holding it as best you can, but I see you getting sick of trying to make it work while your busy with life.

I want to see you test out the software on your own and see what could you actually benefit from it.
I think the members may like a better board, even if you have to do the work yourself. :/
I'm sure the developer team and emuz will see this eventually to see what you do next.
Just something thats been on my mind I'd eventually want to speak to you about directly.
Since speaking to emuz and 1 of his coders this year.

The source of Kafuka's version of Acmlmboard2 is on Bitbucket, no? It's not like I need anyone to actually give it to me or "let" me tweak it... and anyway, you haven't exactly explained in what way it's "better".

Its more stable, the bugs that are in this version should be ironed out in emuz new version.
Before I got permabanned by kp, I got a taste of the how board works.
Its pretty for what emuz and his team has done, including dans efforts to try to make it more precise.

When I talked to emuz about it and you, he has his best interest in mind for the board and you.
If he didn't he could've kept it exclusive to him and anyone else he wants to give it to privately.
He could also, pull the plug on this board and terminate your power here.
Since he has full ownership of both boards, however he isn't like that.

I wasn't going to bring this up with you, because I wanted to see how long you would hold it.
Before you realized this place needs a new update or a new rehaul of the forum.
I think over the past couple of years the people who have come and gone noted to you.
You need to fix somethings apply patches or plug up the holes that have the bots coming in here daily.

You don't have to take my word for it, but speak to emuz about the board software.
Keep an open mind to what he has to say, I know you rather do it yourself.
Rather than rely on people and be screwed over or have to plead them to do their part.
I know how you feel, sometimes its best to accept free help, when your not paying for it.

If it doesn't work out, load a back up of your version, slip him a note and say why.
No harm done, least that way he can't say you didn't give him a chance.

By the way you live in the usa right, get yourself some thanksgiving dinner and relax.

Later.

I don't think the board software ever "crashes", so in what sense would it be more "stable"? Also, I still don't understand what bugs you are talking about.

I'm not sure what you mean there, but I think you are misunderstanding something...

Maybe or maybe not however when I say full ownership, who has main control over the domains of kafukas websites ?
Who is the real copyright owner of the acmlm franchise itself ? :/

Anyway give it some thought though and think about what I pointed out, have a nice holiday season.

More "stable" as in bug fixes such as nearly no ad bots.

It's not clear to what extent that would actually be a consequence of technology, as opposed to fewer spammers targeting Kafuka (since the domain hasn't been around for nearly as long and hence probably still has lower search engine rankings). Most of our spammers are very likely to be humans as opposed to bots (or be using human resources to solve captchas, at least), anyway.

Probably the latter since they sometimes try to post back here occasionally, for no reason.

However they do know how to read posts and respond to them (blume/golddty posted properly and then made their spam post later).

300th post.
