Hi,

I've never posted to a forum like this, and I really just learned how to hack a large portion of different games within the last week. I've already changed a significant portion of the original Final Fantasy 1, including all new graphics for a lot of different things, new script, etc. I really am trying to make something special but I've hit a wall trying to edit the game music and change it. I've started messing with Famitracker, but I have seen a number of posts when searching that the NSF file that is produced by Famitracker can't just be plugged into the game. I've searched everywhere I could think of for editing NES music or specifically FF1 music, but everything I find leads me to a dead end. I know a hacker named Grond did FF ++ and it had new music in it, so I know its possible. I just can't figure it out. Please, any help or tools to do this would be appreciated.

"Description:

An in depth information filled guide to the Final Fantasy Music music format."

Saw this while searching RHDN's music documents the other day. I haven't really taken much of a look at the game but if you already know how to mess with Famitracker I imagine porting music shouldn't be too difficult if you look at preexisting songs.

There's also apparently a disassembly of the music driver. I've never messed with disassemblies and .asm files so I'm not exactly sure how you'd use it, but I figure it might be useful somehow.

In the future, you might wanna try looking up your game on RHDN's documents list before askin' for help, although it's always ok to get clarification!

Good luck!

EDIT:

Oh, er, you'll need to use a Hex Editor obviously. If you don't know how to use one, there's some alright info on it on RHDN as well.
