Because the original game is really easy, you can play it the hard way by doing low level runs, that's why I created this hack.
Now it is easier to do low level runs because the enemies now give 0 exp, excepting Goombas that give only one point of experience (to level up if it's too hard). Thanks to this, you don't have to use the Lucky Hammer/Jewel, saving a lot of time. ----NORMAL---- These are the changes so far: - Goombas are the only enemies who give experience (1 point). - Removed Lucky! Flower bonus of some enemies. - All treasure chests that gave the Star Power in vanilla, were changed to give Frog Coins/Flowers instead. - When selecting between saves, the Mario sprites were changed with 8-bit Mario sprites. - Fixed a typo: "Recoer" in the description of Mushroom in the Baby Goomba shop in Monstro Town. Known glitch as of now: - If you move the cursor after saving, you can see a strange coloured Mario. To see the normal hack in action: https://www.youtube....h?v=aUFRdzSYqs8 ----HARD MODE--- Currently it is a work in progress, it is a rebalance of the entire game, the game is harder until Bowyer. Changelog: v0.2 as of 01/13/2015 * No experience * Removed Lucky! (Avoids Rock Candy farming) * Lowered sell prices. * Raised item prices. * Raised Frog Coin prices. * Removed Exp Booster on Frog Disciple shop * Added Yoshi-Ade on Frog Coin Emporium shop * Removed Lucky Hammer from Seaside Weapons shop * Removed some weaknesses and some became nullified. * All enemy attacks and spells have a 95-100% hit rate, and some inflict status. * Shredder now nullifies Invincible (Bye Bye Red Essence!  )
* All specials are less eficient: * Raised Specials FP usage. * Lowered % hit rate * Lowered magic power (in case of thunderbolt, it was upped by 2 points because of the high fp usage) * Max FP to all Mid-Bosses/Bosses. * Turned the knife attack into an insta-kill, causes poison if well timed. * Perfect timing on defense dropped from 8 to 3 frames. * Timing on defense dropped from 35 to 25 frames. * All bosses start first because they have 99 or 255 speed. * Domino/Cloaker turn invincible on their 2nd phase. * Party got nerfed. * Lazy Shell armor got nerfed. * New Items * Script changes to bosses and enemies. * Some bosses get buffed. * Some bosses use Shredder The harder one was made in 2 days, and Bowyer needs some testing of his script. Very cool! It's surprising nobody has gone to do this already, but I guess you're the first. To think you can beat Culex when everyone is at that low level.
