Those sprites were lifted from Zelda: The Legend of Link. Did you ask for permission before using them? |

Posted by TCgamerboy2002 He's fine. The only real thing that could prevent him from using them is if the sprites were copyrighted by the author of "Zelda: Legend of Link". Some hackers require acknowledgment when borrowing from another work, while others don't. If those sprites are borrowed from another hacker, all pacnsacdave would need to do is credit them. Also, unless the author of whoever made those sprites asks me to remove them, I can allow this hack. --ShaneM EDIT: The sprites look slightly different from infidelity's hack; are you sure that he even borrowed them from that hack? It can come across as being inappropriate when a user tries to rebuke another user directly within the thread; though I know you meant well. But, I will allow pacnsacdave's YT links as they are not direct ROM links to our site. If YT wants to remove them that's their call, not ours. Next, those rules that you've listed do not pertain to our site, so they have no relevance to us. Now, I've already corrected pacnsacdave about his direct ROM linking issue last week, so let's just forget about it. Posted by Korxroa I've played Link's Awakening DX and I know those sprites didn't come from that. Maybe some of them are, but the Link and Zora sprites in the screenshots are definitely from Legend of Link. |

Stufid has some valid points. Look at it this way, whenever we hack a game we do just that...take someone else's work and change it in some shape or form and then claim it our own. So, in reality, just by borrowing something from a franchise, it's not really much different from borrowing someone else's rendition of of a sprite from that franchise. Though it would be nice to credit the author/s of said sprites if that were the case. Though, I ask that we put an end to this pettiness right here and stop hassling Dave with nonsense. I as the designer, can outright prove, that all those sprites were made by me (except for the Gel and the unmodified sprites in the video).

Posted by slash004 I think its doable, but the person that could make that possible would be infidelt. It would take awhile if he decided to do it, but the original zelda shouldn't need that at all. Its best you drop him a line in the pm system here and wait for him to log back in. |
