In 1986 Nintendo teamed with the Nippon radio station in Japan to give out a very special, promotional version of SMB1 to 1,000 lucky winners. This is known as the most unique, strangest and most valuable Mario official hack out there.
I have looked at the code myself and see that it is a very rushed game. A lot of people don't realize that this game is a hack of SMB2J (the Lost Levels) and that the engine borrows heavily from it. In addition to cutting World 9, they also cut code that is important to the game, the way a butcher cuts meat. They have removed important alternate SFX engine routines that luckily don't crash when used by other routines. It is riddled with bugs and imperfections. Not to mention that it also does not fully take place at night! How could they possibly oversee something as important as that? They obviously intended for it to be that way, seeing as World 1 is all night. They released it 4 months after the release of SMB2J Japan, so it's no wonder this game is so buggy. What I have done is remake it as it should be, a hack of SMB1 rather than SMB2J. I have made it from my SMB1 hack (http://acmlm.kafuka.org/board/thread.php?id=7869) and it has all the bug fixes etc. that it has, too. This is better than the official ANNSMB in the sense that it has more bug fixes. But in some ways it is different. Changes: *Translated the title into English *All stages are now taken place during the night *Poison Mushrooms are now included! Something the original ANNSMB was lacking in *The game now has only one form of Mushroom Retainer (Goro Itoi) *No Worlds A-D *World 8-4 is from SMB1 rather than SMB2J *Original SMB1 Hard Mode after beating the game All the other mechanics are the same as the original ANNSMB such as 1P game, green springboards, red piranhas etc. I WILL RELEASE THIS AS SOON AS I TEST IT FULLY. (REALLY SOON) 
NOTE: AS I SAID, THIS IS A HACK OF MY SMB1 FDS HACK THAT I RELEASED ON HERE. IT IS TRULY A SMB1 HACK RATHER THAN WHAT NINTENDO DID HACKING SMB2J. ____________________ At the end, when the day is over, the only one left to face is yourself. A similar thing would be to use the Game Genie code OGPEAT. I was just goofing around, trying to make an OHGREAT code. Needless to say, all it did was make an *almost* all-night version of SMB1, barring those customized sprites from ANN. ____________________ Sorry for the stupidity. If you are working on an ANNSMB hack, you can also just change the values in a hex editor to make every stage night. Here:

Thanks! I started playing the 2 in 1 hack last night, i think its awesome so far! Really looking forward to this one too. I actually never knew about some of the stuff not used in the game like the little cacti and other stuff.
This looks awesome man! I dont think i have seen too many ANNSMB hacks at all. |

Posted by XTTX The sprites are limited to the promotional SMB only. That is a custom sprite that I remade from SMW (when Special world is completed). In addition, I've used the custom Koopa "mask" sprite from SMW, too. @Everyone ANNSMB is really a hack on SMB2J to begin with. What I did was create mine from my SMB1 game, SMB1.5. But there's more! I've also been working on a previous ANNSMB in which I use the original Nintendo version, in which they originally hacked SMB2J. So, what to do? I could have included both versions of the same game on different disk sides but I didn't. I did something more creative. I've made a brand new game, All Evening Nippon SMB on disk Side B!!!! Similar to my SMB1+2J game, this one is a 2-in-1, with ANNSMB on Side A and AENSMB on Side B. Enjoy and give me feedback. I'm tired of dozens of people playing my games and not so much as even 1 comment on if they found glitches or any other comment. NOTE: SINCE AENSMB IS A HACK OF ANNSMB WHICH IS INITIALLY A HACK OF SMB2J, UPON COMPLETION OF THE GAME 8 TIMES, YOU WILL ACCUMULATE 8 STARS ON THE TITLE SCREEN, PRESSING AND HOLDING A + START WILL TAKE THE PLAYER ONTO WORLDS A-D. ENJOY ANNSMB Changes: -They are a surprise! AENSMB: -This is a hack of the original ANNSMB with evening palettes to fit the theme -Player starts with 5 lives rather than 3 -Worlds A-D have many fixes and additions to it. Such as but not limited to: aggressive Hammer Bros, Bowser throwing hammers, etc. -Numerous bug fixes/stage fixes.
Patch it to a clean, unheadered SMB1 ROM. Then go to Machine on the upper left (next to File). Once there, go to External, Disk System, then Options. Once there, click on browse and upload the BIOS file from whichever directory you have it in. Then, click on Ok. HOW TO SWITCH DISK SIDES (Nestopia): ========================= To switch disk sides, go to Machine, External, Disk System, Insert, then select Disk 1 Side B. Now, what you want to do is go to Machine, Reset, Hard. That's it; have fun! DO NOT FORGET TO DO A HARD RESET, AS MENTIONED. How to use the included .pal file to enhance GFX on this and ALL NES games: =============================================== To install the .pal file, go to Options, then choose Video. Now, on the bottom left you'll see "Palette". Choose Custom and then click on browse and choose the file called "Custom.pal" in whatever directory you have it stored in. Enjoy. Using a Joypad on Nestopia: ================= To get a game controller working, go to Options, Input and under select Set All. This is a great hack man. Ive been playing through these with no problem. I started on side 2 first and am now making my way through the first side. I seem to have been doing that lately starting on side 2 first. Its a good thing i dont read books this way.
