Those mug shots do look pretty cool.

I would love to see an entire revamp of Megaman 1-6's mugshot designs.

I've been out of the MM scene for a long time, but I really liked what I saw just now, not sure if this has been done already, the revamp of 1-6's mugshots.

Actually. I've been working on something like a year ago:...



Revamping these mugshot is pretty hard. My mugshot's big problem, is the Metal Blade on his head. If I want to have the blue "shine" on it, I'll already exceed the palette limitations. :/
BTW, I think I made his head a bit funny. And the blade is also a bit small... :/

Wow nice work there! I like the new perspective of viewing Metalman's face from the front, than the usual front/side profile.

Just saw your edit. Personaly I like the blue streaks within the blade, but its all about the designers choice! Still, very nice work!

Thanks. I like it more in blue too, but you know, 4 colours / 16×16. But if it's on the sprite layer, it's actually possible. And this is still not good, the upper-left 16×16 part of the mugshot, still exceeds NES limitations.

IT'S DONE!!!!!

The f*cking ROM is done!!!!

I was going to go to the gym an hour ago, but I decided to just finish the final parts of the ROM. I am proud to say that the Upgrade Patch is done!!!

I just have to type up some information, create the patch, and voila!!

There will be a V2 Patch, since I found only 2 bugs last night. But they are both very minor.

The first one, is that the In-Level Address reverts back pre-maturely, so Dr. Wily's crying pose is glitched for just a couple of seconds.



And the second one isn't really a bug. I simply forgot to take the score out of the Game Over screen. Don't ask me how I forgot to do that.

Actually that looks perfectly doable if you manage your palettes and sprites well. Remember you can overlap as many sprites as you like as long as you don't exceed the per scan line limit. Check out my Timeman mug. It's using like 4 palettes and a lot of sprites.

Do you still keep the original 8 robot master layout, 3 top, 2 middle, 3 bottom?

I ask cause im curious of your sprite layering, and if it interfears with the other mugshots that have sprite tiles.

If this is not the case, im assuming it would be used in a way that my Ultra 2 uses, one mugshot at a time.

Standard Layout.
I don't recall if there were tile issues, but if there were I probably relied on turning off tile limits since I never intended for this to be played on real hardware.

Edit:

I found the old patch and checked. My stage select screen has no issues with sprite flicker at all.
My emulator lied!!

Wow all within the 8 sprite limit! Im impressed! That is one of the sleekest boss select screens for Megaman ive seen. :-)
