Can I add a suggestion?

Close old threads, so people won't bump threads that are months/years old. If a thread is over a month old, just close it...

It's a good point, but I don't think it should apply to stickies and the like, or important topics.

Otherwise it should be done.

Also, here are my suggestions from my board2 activity suggestions thread which no onre replied to, which fits here:

SPAM RELATED:
The spam looks like it was done by bots, and not humans (however some of it was made by people pretending to be contributors e.g. blume and golddty), we need some sort of system to kick those bots up the arse and still make registration possible. Perhaps implement the proxy protection system (like Blargboard's), and get a decent proxy protector, this will stop reregs and some spam.

Also link the board to StopForumSpam so that IPs are banned from the site if a spam bot is on the blacklist - although we'll have to report spam to the database as well, too.

FORUM LIST:
Merge the Gaming/Fraxy/Entertainment into General (no one posts in any of those anymore).
ROM hacking releases could be made specifically for tools and emulators - things like that - at the moment it's pretty ambiguous what the rom hacking and related releases are actually differ for.

Megaman could also be a subforum instead of SMW - and a tutorial forum would be good for the board too (content needs to be submitted via a PM to somebody).

Maybe also a Homebrew/Development forum for the classic consoles. It could help the board become more active as new developers write games from scratch.

There's also thousands of hidden boards, if any of those (like ones for specific games etc) could be worth opening we could merge those into ROM Hacking (if for games) or make them viewable once more. In particular the Programming forum could be merged into Technology, or both be merged into General.

STAFF:
The only people that still visit the board who are staff seem to be blackhole, ninjablooper and Xeruss, also sometimes ShaneM. Perhaps out of the currently active userbase we could have a few new staff members - I think Googie and Quick Curly would work as good staff for this site, both are interested in the site, have been around for god knows how long and are pretty active. (Somebody could also be a local mod for the hack tutorials, perhaps Mike-Tech?)

Also I guess blackhole and ninjablooper are more focusing on real life as they haven't posted much for a while.

OTHER USES:
Board2 could have a subsite (Blog2) for the latest rom hacking related news, but this is a possibility and would require a lot of dedication.

HACKS:
I don't know, but if enough interest happens maybe a collab hack could be done across the active users here? A lot of members seem to be interested in Megaman hacking and I think a board2 hack of one of those games would work really well if we tried.

All in all I really want this board to get more active while it is still around. Perhaps we could ask people to join this site or put it in our signatures using a special banner - another idea would be to remake the current banner and use it for signature links, when the new one is done.

(Disclaimer: I am not saying 'do it now, or throw yourself under a bus', and I don't want staff in any way at all, I don't need it, or want it. I just want board2 to become active again.)
