Hi everybody! My name is Zieldak and I'm here to show some my progress on my small Mega Man 1 hack named Mega Man Reloaded.

Download Mega Man Reloaded V1.3 now!
Download Mega Man Reloaded Beta - Thanatos-Zero's Report now!

I planned to make this hack for Mega Man's 25th Anniversary.

The storyline:

"Wily got out of prison, and he secretly built up his base, on an unknown island. He stole and reprogrammed 6 robots from the Robot Museum, to get revenge for being defeated for the 11th time. (As you know, RnF is also meant to be a part of the series' storyline, according to Mega Man 9's ending.) Dr. Wily send them to different places on the planet to make total chaos! Will Mega Man be able to save the world from Dr. Wily again?"

I don't plan any major changes to the game, like changing it's coding, or addig new content to it. All levels are completed. I haven't changed any Weapons, or enemy AIs yet, but I'm planning to do some changes to them. But I'm not sure about the music. Maybe, I'll remix them a little bit. Fire Man's background hack was moved to Cut Man's stage, but later, it was removed.

Elec Man's stage - Electricity Valley
'What a nice view from up here.' Finished
Note: 1/4 of the graphics is homebrew. Those green lines are meant to be flashing.

Ice Man's stage - Antarctic Island
'Another icy place, but the ground isn't slippy' Finished
Note: Made some changes to the level, and the graphics is a bit upgraded. There are no places where the ground is slippy now.

Cut Man's stage - Scrapped Metal Zone
'Just what kind of place is this?' Finished
Note: 2/4 of the graphics is homebrew.
Note: This level has been under a massive redesing graphics and layout wise.

Guts Man's stage - Metallic Mine
'Great, this will be a piece of rock.' Finished

Bomb Man's stage - Skyhigh Castle
'Wow, a castle up in the sky! I've never seen such a thing!' Finished

Fire Man's stage - Eruption Basement
'Ugh, it's really hot in here.' Finished
Note: Like in Elec Man's stage, there are flashing lines here too, using the lava's palette.

Note: After an update Wily levels has got totally new graphics! Every levels are using different tilesets!

Wily 1 - Skull Tower Level 1
'So this is Wily's Base. I should go in...' Finished
Note: The level has the same background as Wily 4. The screenshot won't be updated, because there is no need to do it.

Wily 2 - Skull Tower Level 2
'I hope Wily is not that evil to lead me into a Spiked Wall Room. It's my weakness!' Finished

Wily 3 - Skull Tower Level 3
'Water... Like in his other bases too...' Finished

Wily 4 - Skull Tower Level 4
'Something tells me I'm very close to Wily now.' Finished
Note: A 'fake' recover system has been added to the boss rush, to make life easier.
Note: Wily Machine 1 has got a new palette! It will be called Neo Wily Machine #1.

A 2 level preview run of MMR. Cut Man and Guts Man stages. Recorded and uploaded by Insectduel.

Note: The screenshots above are outdated, and will not be replaced.

Very nice graphical edits, especially considering how limited UNROM is compared to MMC3.
EDIT: You should edit the robot masters a bit to make them look a bit more Mega Man X esque, like make their limbs look more shiny and give Iceman a mouthplate like Magnet Man or something.

Thanks. I have a lot of work in selecting and making the best graphics for the hack. About making the robot masters more 'X-ish', I draw a lot of different sprites of them, but neither looked as good as they are now. Maybe I'll try to redraw them again for a chance.

Dang, that looks really nice. Glad to see more hacking of the games, I'll be sure to check it out when I have time and when you have a release!

Thanks NARF.

I have just finished Cut Man's stage. Only 3 screenies this time.

As you see, the Background Hack from Fire Man's stage is now on Cut Man's!

Also, some enemies have new names, according to their new look.

Blader - Flying Lantern
Bombomb - CFN-24B (CFN-24 is from Mega Man 7. This enemy is a CFN-24, just a bit different, that's why it's called 24B)
Spine - Ground Detector
Super Cutter - Metal Blader
Sniper Joe - Neo Sniper Joe
Foot Holder - Neo Foot Holder
Flying Shell - Screw Shooter

woooow dang i seriously agree with everyone.

Those are some really good graphic choices. yea, za909 is exactly right. Megaman 1 and 2 i believe did NOT ever orignally have the room to use all 256 graphic tiles for stage tilesets because the roms were very small and more limited.

MM3 to 6 were able to just cause they all used the MMC3 mapper, which obviously would have more graphic space.

I agree with everyone, this looks really really nice. Mega Man 1 always had questionable tiles and enemies but you've really made it look neat! Haha, you've actually made me think more about which enemies I could replace in my game!

This really does look cool though, you're good with the tiling. Inspires me to try my own to be honest!

I think what makes this different from most MM1 hacks is that the tiles actually "end" and don't have the middle part on the left and the right end If you know what I mean.
Damn I'd so help out with music or something but I don't know how the MM1/MM2 sound engine works.

Just a small demo of the hack, named Demo 1 - Electric Ice.

Only Elec Man's and Ice Man's stage are completeable, other levels are totally deleted. You will just teleport into a Black Screen with the Game Over music.

@za909 - Yes, I know what do you mean.

UPDATE: Now three weapons are avaiable: Elec Beam, Ice Slasher and Super Arm.

Made small changes to Elec Man's stage. Repaired Ice Man's intro, and fixed Elec Man's encounter flashing.
Also, added a Super Arm item, which is not in the hack. It's just a little extra for this demo only. Unlocks Super Arm. Replaces Magnet Beam.

Small notes for the demo. Elec Man's encounter flashing is not using the correct palette. Ice Man's legs while jumping into the screen are also missing. It's not a big problem, the demo should be still enjoyable. Also, you can skip some Blocks in Ice Man's second Block Section, if you are fast enough. If you fail, you will most likely fall down.

Hmm, I like this.

1: Elec Man's stage looks very nice, and the colors are good choices. Graphics work well together. I like most of the enemy choices, but I think you have just a /bit/ too many Sniper Joes. Please remember this is Mega Man 1, where Sniper Joes are really random and more aggravating than interesting. I like that Elec Man's damage isn't stupidly ridiculous anymore.

2: Ice Man looks pretty okay as well! Level's very nice, I'm glad the space taken for the Carry Platforms is barely notable instead of being a game ender. It still feels a tiny bit short though, but that's alright. Ice Man's level seems great!

1. Well, I know there are more Sniper Joe's on the way now, but they make the level longer than it actually is. I'm planning to replace 2 of them. Also, Elec Man's damage is still stupidly ridiculous, if you are using the Rolling Cutter against him. I can't find that 0A damage value anywhere for Elec Man, but I know it should be there, with the other damage values.

2. Yes, Ice Man was always short, and will always be. I can't really expand his scroll data, because it will bump into an another one (Wily2), and I would have to repoint the map checkpoints. But I can't do that. Even hex editing them (the map checkpoint, the respawn point, the activate point), or with RnR (RockandRoll), the game always goes crazy! So, the scrolling data is really limited, if I don't want to 'destroy' the checkpoints. That's why nobody tried huge scroll rewrites before.

Also, I updated that Demo to 1.01, with a little extra. Read Post ID: 152019

A small update, with 2 screenies of Guts Man's stage. I'm going to call his stage, Metallic Mine.

Also, if you have tried the Demo 01/Beta 01 (as it is called on the demo ROM's title screen), you may have already found this small graphical glitch.

It's nothing special actually, you can see this only for 1 game frame/tick. Also, I don't think you have already tried to kill yourself in Elec Man stage's first screen, by jumping down. Crazy things will happen. I already fixed that in the actual ROM.

That's all for now.

I haven't tried that but let me guess:
a.) The screen scrolls down and you appear on the screen above the first one.
b.) The screen scrolls down and scrolls you into a garbage layer you get stuck in

Yes, you guessed the second right. And it also resets the game if you are facing left. It's not a big deal. It was because there are some empty scroll slots before the scroll starting point. But I've fixed it with a small platform replacing. And it is actually better now than it was.

Also, just finished Bomb Man's level. half of the graphics is homebrew/custom. Are the colors good? They hurt your eyes? Oh, and it's called 'Skyhigh Castle'. Yes, this level is meant to be up in the sky, but not above the clouds.

The palette is just fine. It's not super special or anything, but it works fine I'd think.

I have finished Fire Man's level. But I'm not sure about the background palette. I think it will be the 'Eruption Basement'.

Also, I have 'upgraded' some of Wily's tileset a little bit, to be much smoother.

Reloaded is 80.5% completed right now with the update yesterday.
And a small question.
1.) Shall I release the second demo of the game, the 'Sliced Bomb', featuring Bomb Man and Cut Man, and an obtainable Fire Storm replacing Magnet Beam, then the Third demo, the 'Hot Rocks', with Fire Man and Guts Man, and the Hyper Bomb weapon?
2.) Or I should already release the 'Robot Mastered' demo, with the completed Robot Master levels?
The choice is yours.

And I think you wondered why every stages are stated to be only ~95% completed in the first post. It's because I may do some changes to the stages, even if they are said to be finished.

This looks realy nice, considering how limited you are in Mega Man 1.

Nice work!
