Hello I am Fulmine50, do you remember? To apply the hack mm4?
not a hack but this time I ask help on how to change the colors in the game. my problem is how to change them, once I was adjusting the color to green (black) to black and white (in mega man blue) in red in the game but nothing has changed color. This time I help you? If this time the site can not accept these type of request, tell me what you do not ask for the site. (P.S.: I'm getting better with English) |

First of all, this goes in the romhacking forum, not general chat, so I'm gonna move this when I finish posting.
Second, the NES uses a fixed palette with some 64 or so colors, which the games pick and choose from, storing one byte per color. For example, magenta is 0x14 while yellow is 0x28. The SNES and GBA and such use a much wider palette, storing magenta as a multi-byte value encoding the separate amounts of red, green and blue. It's not entirely unlike how magenta would be written as #FF00FF in a webpage. Tile Layer Pro doesn't let you actually edit the in-game colors, only those you edit them with. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

You can.
First, you can turn off Caps Lock. Shouting does not make people want to help. Second, most Mega Man level editors I know of -- hell, most level editors in general I know of -- have a palette editor built in. Get one for MM4 and use it. Because, you know... "changing the colors in the game" counts as hacking. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

Or you could just change wathever color to wathever with a hex-editor. If I can figure out how Iam sure you can do. And don't try to find a hexeditor, just download FCEUX wich has everything you need in it. Except the manual for 6502 . |

Okay, I know absolutely nothing about NES hacking and even I know that FCEU doesn't have everything. A hex editor? Seriously? Volatile file access isn't all it's cracked up to be. ____________________ we're currently experiencing some technical difficulties |

He did say FCEUX. Anyway, this is only muddling the issue. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

Posted by Kawa Implying that there is a FCEU version other than X or XD worth using. The issue at hand lies in a failure to understand how such tile-editing programs actually work, among other things. Tile Layer Pro, for example, allows you to import a... limited variety of savestate formats to read the current set of palettes being used, in the case of SNES games. However, Tile Layer Pro is ill-equipped to properly represent NES games, lacking the default NES palette and the ability to piece together viewing palettes from it. ____________________ we're currently experiencing some technical difficulties |

And yet the simplest and probably safest way to do this thing FULMINE50 wants to do is with a MM4 level editor.
Seriously considering to close this to prevent him from getting buried in high-level suggestions and confusion. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

Well it depends on where the color is he wanna change. But of course, is it in-level its just stupid to do it with hex. Just get megaflex then, you can find it on this board. |

Well, you'd better learn how to use a hex editor then, if you don't already know how. The rest has basically already been said. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

Posted by FULMINE50 1. Are you absolutely sure you're using the right ROM with the right program? 2. What's the error? 3. What's the error? You can't expect us to know what's wrong unless you tell us. ____________________ we're currently experiencing some technical difficulties |

I think you might get a runtime error if you don't have both the program and the romfile in the same folder in c: .. but... iam not sure of that at all, I may be wrong. Otherwise it's probably just the romfile thats incorrect. Try another one. |
