Okay, you can save the NES and SNES emulations you get from the shopping channel onto an SD card.

Now, if you opened this up with a hex editor, how different is it from the original rom, and is there any similarity, or is it a whole different format?

They are self-contained units designed to specifically emulate the game contained within. The ROM inside is compressed with LZ-77 compression method (correct if I am wrong)

If the installed package (called a WAD, from its filename) is moved from the system menu to a memory card, then it likely goes through some kind of encryption key and is assigned a Console ID. Without the encryption key, which we don't have, we will not be able to make any edits that don't screw everything up. The best way is to edit the rom you want, insert it directly into the WAD using tools already on the scene and then install the WAD with a WAD manager. Of course, you will need to mod the Wii which is a topic I don't really want discussed here.

Don't worry. I've studied it a lot. I can handle that on my own if I wanted to (Which I don't)

Why not just use The Homebrew Channel to launch an NES emulator to play your edited ROM in?

It'd probably be a heck of a lot easier than trying to get your stuff working with Nintendo's emulators.

Wii version is updated too high. I'd have to knock the system back, and I'm not sure if I'm quite willing to do that yet.

Also, we should probably drop this, as he kind of hinted talking about wii hacking being something we shouldn't be talking about here.
