So what is every ones preference on CPUs. I am choosing both because I have used both and I will use what ever is available.

I have used both, and I'm biased toward Intel. Really, it's probably because the only AMD computer I've ever had to mess with was one from back in the '90s on Windows 98. That whole computer had a raft of problems, and I've probably just gone and associated AMD with computer troubles is all.
But for whatever reason, yeah, I buy Intel.

AMD, mainly because their processors cost 1/5 of Intel's for comparable performance.

I have a really old computer with an AMD Athlon something or other, two slightly less old Dell computers with an Intel P4 and a newer P4 w/HT, and my current computer has an AMD Phenom II. I might've gotten an i7 instead but this one was cheaper and seemed a bit better to comparably-priced intel chips (well, maybe; I didn't check into it too much since at that point I just really wanted a computer that could actually DO things...). Basically, I don't really care either way, I'll just get one based on price/etc, not brand.

I vote both, because I kinda like AMD yet use an Intel in this laptop. *shrug*

AMD for price, Intel for performance.

It's all situational depending on what you look for... most people might be better off with AMD. I got a i7 cause i thought it was sexy so....

There was an interval where AMD was superior both in terms of price and performance (roughly the Athlon XP stage), but Intel got way ahead now... AMD's redeeming points remain, I suppose, price/power ratio and a certain stick-it-to-the-man appeal.

I think on video cards, I think that NVidia is one of the best.

I think considering that AMD is just as big as Intel... you'd probably be going with VIA or some other smaller-time fab for that appeal.

Also Intel's not "way ahead". the Phenom II X6 pretty much matches the performance of an i7.

Considering the only real difference is hyper-threading (which iirc AMD is planning to start implementing in it's chips within the next year or two (I don't recall where I heard it so this could be just another rumor or something)), then I guess it just depends on whether you use many programs that would really benefit from HT or not.

I admit I got a ATI/AMD GPU just cause Nvidia cards had a bad stability for me. Plus they got infamous for the unreliabilityness of their GPU's for awhile. :/

Hmm, I prefer a AMD cpud quadcore or hexa-core to do most of my tasks.
Seing as there is Intel don't mind them either, the only thing I don't like currently is intels set prices.

Running a core i3 540 for now, as I artic freezer pro 64 got sticky and snatched up my Phenom II 1055T a month ago...

I think AMD is better over all, and it's also built for gaming.
Just get a 64-bit dual or quad core AMD processor that runs at about 3.0GHz, and badass motherboard with a ATi chipset, heh.
