Do you like playing the SNES version of Pinball Dreams or Pinball Fantasies, but hate having to lose your high scores every time you turn the game off? Me too! That's why I made this patch these patches to save your high scores to SRAM and reload them when you turn the game back on.

You can also reset the high score tables by holding Select at startup, in case you decide you want to start over for whatever reason.

Source code included.

Pinball Dreams version (new): http://revenant1.net/pd_hiscore.zip
Pinball Fantasies version: http://revenant1.net/pf_hiscore.zip

(no screenshots because this hack doesn't change anything visually)

~zkip:
That's really cool man, but isn't it sort of pointless? You know, what with just about every SNES emulator supporting savestates now.

Eh, I suppose it would be nice for those that do the playing on the real system.

Nice job.

Yeah it was more of a "for the hell of it" thing. I figure most people play the PC or Amiga version anyway.

Brad, why would you make a video demonstrating the volatile nature of a high score table?

This is pretty cool, most of snes games don't save high score when turn the game off.

It's funny with games that keeps a high score table, without even saving it between restarts and whatnot. Then again original Excitebike was worse about this, leaving in the save function from the FDS version but leaving it non-functional in the European/American release, due to the lack of SRAM.

I think this is a cool feature, but, honestly, I'd use it more for Pinball Dreams, than Fantasies. I didn't like Fantasies' as much.

The dos version is a little harder to get a hold of, but, the only think I'd use it for is the MOD files in there. I *LOVE* the music.

It would probably be pretty trivial to adapt this hack to Pinball Dreams too, I can give it a shot this weekend if I have time.

The only real reason I chose Fantasies was because I was addicted to Billion Dollar Gameshow at the time

And since I really have nothing better to do at 9 AM on a Saturday, I spent five minutes making a functionally identical patch for Pinball Dreams by changing five addresses in the source code. Possibly the fastest ever conversion of an ASM hack from one game in a series to another? Who cares.

Download it if you're bored

(apologies for the double post)
