Since Neritic uses, well, the same code essentially... it's not hard to port (that is, paste a <link> tag to the .css and change relative links to absolute links) the theme I made there, for here! It, uh, doesn't work well if your screen resolution is >720p (hence the theme name...) due to bg image dimensions, but otherwise it's pretty awesome~!

Thoughts/etc?

Actually doesn't look so bad, but the fonts are weird in places (in particular, this text entry box and the buttons) and some mint-coloured links are positively hard to see against the mint-coloured background.

Can't the background be stretched, atleast under compliant browsers?
Also that background takes quite a while to be loaded.

Aside from that, this theme is not bad at all.

What's the point of having a redonkulously huge backgroud if you can't even see any of it?

If you know how... though I'm not sure how good it will look resized, but, eh, it's worth a try.

Also that background takes quite a while to be loaded.
Only the first time, after that it should be cached (assuming you haven't disabled it for whatever reason...).

What do you mean?

Kill the damn background.
That would render the theme mostly useless...

Edit: Ah, I see that the "Main - <forum> - <thread>" things aren't inside of table cells like at Neritic (or, at least, not ones with any css classes), so I see why some things might be harder to read here.

Anyone with a custom post layout has their background blocking the background image, I'm assuming that's what he means.

Well, not everyone does (most of the time I don't see more than one or two posts per page that contain an actual layout like mine/GM's/etc).

Okay, my two cents.

The background is not visible through any table cells at all, post layouts be damned, only through the spaces inbetween tables. Any text such as the breadcrumbs and new reply links is nigh unreadable.

The cell colors are nice, but the background is effectively less than worthless.

Opera 10.62, Windows 7.

Weird. Those cells have transparent backgrounds for me. That is, when there's no post layout covering the cell's background.

I guess this theme should force disable post layouts, do something about those breadcrumbs, and stretch the background when available, and then it'd be fine. But the first two parts would need modifications into the board's code.

I also think this theme is rather bland without its background.

When I said "any table cells at all", the emphasis on "all" was there with good reason.

Well, what applies to the post cells, also applies to the other cells, since they use the same classes, amirite?

So yeah, all the table cells are transparent for me. I'm using the same browser and OS as you. Weird.

Weird indeed. Weird and, at least to me, effectively worthless. Are we even looking at the same pages? (that is, this thread and its newreply)

The theme looks just fine to me, I'm on Opera 10.70 on Windows 7.
But you are right about the breadcrumbs, they are completely unreadable, and since I'm using a resolution above 720p, the background doesn't really fit.
Though, aside from that, the theme looks very nice overall.

Kawa, I use Opera 10.62, and the table cells are perfectly transparent for me (and apparently everyone else who uses Opera), so you probably edited some setting that's causing it to break.

Also, the so-called breadcrumbs had backgrounds on Neritic, I didn't realize there weren't any on board2, so they would need to be classed with td.b or whatever here as well to look proper with the theme.
This seems to be the table/cell structure for them at Neritic, based on looking at a random thread and then viewing page source:
<table cellspacing="0" class="c1" width="100%">
<tr class="n1">
<td class="b n1">
<table cellspacing="0" width="100%">
<tr>
<td align="left" class="nb">
<a href="#">Neritic Net</a> - <a href="#">Announcements</a> - Links!!
</td>
<td align="right" class="nb">
<a href="#">New thread</a> | <a href="#">New poll</a> | <a href="#">New reply</a>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>
</table>

Also, see here for the function that actually generates that. $l is for the left side (ie: "Main - Forum - Thread"), $c for the center (uh... I don't know of any pages that use it but I guess it's there just in case), $r for the right (ie: "New Reply - New Thread - New Poll").

Gee, I wonder what setting that'd be cos I can't remember changing anything related to the rendering of elements beyond metafont families and image smoothing.

Well, image smoothing might actually have something to do with it, the theme uses transparent PNGs for the table backgrounds because apparently using rgba() backgrounds was messing up some layouts or something. :shrug:

It was disabled when I first looked, and now that I enabled it, it's exactly the same.
