Here, a new life begins.
A life to learn, A life to live.
A life to enjoy, or hate.
Here is where the memories begin.
The memories of emotion.
The memories of smell.

You don't understand, until you learn.
Your eyes open the first time. Confused and in wonder.
You see the black and white of life.
The occasional shade of gray.
The whole world is unknown, it is unlearned.

Over time, you begin to learn.
You feel hate, love, and all thats in between.
You learn more emotion, you learn more thought.
You learn to live.
You have enemies, people who bully you, and people you bully.
You have friends, people to have fun with.
People you learn with.
Your childhood.

You move on.
Your old friends go away.
You may not think it yet in life.
But you lost friends important to you, you dont have anyone to learn by your side anymore.
As you get older, more and more things become serious.
No time for play, no time for fun.
You need to learn, more and more.
You get ready for your venture into your own house.
Your own responsibilities.
Phasing into adulthood, your childhood disappears.

You begin to understand. But you still need to learn.
Learn to live.
you get depressed, stressed about life.
Things bring you down, like waves against a rock.
Reshaping who you are, what you want to become.
It hurts.
But very slowly, you begin to see in shades of more color.

As you get older, and older. you have less life, less strength to learn.
You still need to learn.
you understand, you live.
You have grandkids.
Life, love, and care. The people around you bring all the goodness you need in your heart.
You notice you want to do more. But you cant, you still need to learn.

you start dying. Slowly, but you know its coming.
Skin becomes wrinkled, bones become weak.
Time wore this big miss-shaped stone into just a small pebble.
You begin to feel the current pick you up.
As you begin to die, you feel like you need to learn more.
But you dont, you learned everything you needed.
A new venture waits you.

Here, a new life ends.
A life to learn, A life to live.
A life to enjoy, or hate.
Here is where the memories end.
The memories of emotion.
The memories of smell.
The memories of life.

That's pretty good if not a tad morbid. The constant theme of the needing to learn reminds me of my philosophy classes, specifically the talks on Socrates and his discussion on the concept of learning and how we come to first begin to learn as newborns.

I do not know all of the players on that particular topic, but the ideas are this:

1) You begin to learn (recollect as Socrates states) as soon as you are born.

2) You begin to learn some time later, say 2-3 months at least.

Anywho I digress. That writing is a nice and short description of life. Good job.

An enjoyable read! Great job! I suspected that there wouldn't be a happy ending though.

It's an excellent and meaningful reminder of what life truly is...
How much of a gift it truly is...
It can never be appreciated enough.

I hope that you continue writing!
