I speak English (pointing out the obvious is fun) and I'm learning Latin. It is a lot easier than you would think. Any of you speak alternate languages?

I also speak English quite fluently. I'm learning Spanish. Latin is a good language to learn because you can use it to figure out a lot of other languages :p

Fluent in German, English/Russian, Japanese, sorted in descending order by ability (the / indicates a tie or indecision kind of thing, as I have hard to compare strengths and weaknesses in the two), also having some latent and continuously rotting away knowledge of Latin.

So am I. Even though US people usually learn less languages you can always choose to take classes for them.

My native language is Spanish, I had to learn English by myself because schools suck in México. I'm actually English deaf/mute, I do only text.

continuously rotting away knowledge of Latin.

So you learnt Latin? Are you crazy Latin is useless when you aren't working in medicine or stuff like that, and it's a nightmare to learn, more even so than French would be if it wasn't my native language. I had to learn it, and couldn't get past the basic stuff.

Some vague mix between mostly American English and some British English, and Dutch.

That's a rather roundabout way of describing things... not to mention that the first part only refers to the meat ("a fried piece of beef") rather than the whole food item, unlike those internet sources of the phrase I can find on the google seem to suggest or assume.

... which makes me wonder whether there is a Vatican City branch of McDonalds, and if they actually use Ecclesiastical Latin as their primary language of service if there is.

Also, Latin isn't really difficult. It's much more logical and straightforward than French, and I find it rather useful to understand origins and meanings of Romance vocabulary in various other European languages anyway.

There's nothing wrong with a well-prepared piece of meat.

I'm fairly sure it's a joke about the American elitist attitude toward adapting or learning anything from another culture unnecessarily...
Either way, it's true here too, English is all I have.

I know English very well & Spanish well enough to survive in Mexico or read the paper. I am working on learning Japanese, but progress has been slow as I keep getting distracted. In theory I am using the AJATT method, but my posting on here shows about how well I am sticking to the plan. :/

Fly to the coins
I was born to a family that spoke Spanish, so naturally I know as much Spanish as I speak to them, which is almost all of it (except for some words I never really needed to know the meaning of), but I learned English in school and I honestly prefer English now anyway.

I speak Englush fluently, and have some minor experience in German, French, and Spanish. Mostly German, I can normally hold my own in a conversation.
