I was going to say it's a more specific rip-off of here, but then I saw the post date :p

Read further and you can find a flame war arrupting. I want to know who side would you take, dragonboy's side or smkdan's side.

Probably smkdan, he has a little more to back up his arguments with.

Also laughed at the reference to blast processing I had forgotten about that

I think dragonboy is a troll.

Either way, everything smkdan said is pretty much right and demonstrates that he has considerably better insight into the issue at hand than dragonboy does. If they are the least bit attentive to what is going on in their forum and have some kind of basic concern for civility and quality in their board, SMWC's staff should give dragonboy a medium-length cooldown ban to reflect over his actions. I still think that he's a troll, though.

I think we shouldn't be bringing SMWC issues or discussions of said issues here. Stuff like this has immense danger of escalating into something beyond anyone's control.

Who do you think is smarter and more experienced, me or dragonboy?

KP9000 has a point about keeping SMWC issues at SMWC so I won't talk about that specific thread =). Long story short he got banned shortly after, that's all for SMWC.

Anyway, Googling "Aaendi dragonboy" should make the purpose of this thread pretty obvious A rather tacky attempt at seeking approval from an alternate forum under an alias.

Anyway I'll provide some honest criticism. The fact that you don't have that much insight is totally fine, nothing wrong with that. The fact that you've managed to convince yourself otherwise along with the narcissistic view of yourself is honestly pitiful though. I saw your threads here about 'snes emulator bugs' or whatever and you post code that shows you don't know the simpler parts of programming, but ofcourse, you blame the bugs of the emulator. There is no possibility that dragonboy could ever be in the wrong, right? You post another thread on an 'xkas glitch' and it turns out you simply didn't read the manual. You don't seem to think for a minute that it is possibly *you* that is wrong, which makes it hard to reason with you and is a horrible attitude for someone that is trying to learn. Is that a bit clearer now? It's hard to take you seriously when you have this attitude, see the thread you posted. It's also really disrespectful to byuu/emulator authors/people who know what they're doing when you instantly assume that all the issues you are finding are entirely their fault. Put the superiority complex aside and consider that you aren't always right etc.

Hopefully this isn't interepreted as inflammatory, just some advice. If you genuinely want to improve at this you really have to leave that attitude behind.

Oh.

Oh.

I should have seen it coming. Mind me, I must be really getting old.

smkdan: Thanks for your closing words. I positively second your advice.

Aaendi: Although believing in your own abilities generally is a good starting point for solving problems others might all too eagerly capitulate before, overdoing it to the degree you do will not only alienate and annoy people around you but solidly cross the line separating it from courage and determination and enter the realm of foolhardiness. You might be used to having a degree of knowledge and ability in certain things that is not found in anyone around you in real life; that does not, however, necessarily have to carry over anywhere you go. There are plenty of people with a far higher degree of ability and experience than you around here, and you don't generally see them going around and demanding kowtows, submission and praise. If you want to receive help, it's all the more advisable to show some deference.

Considering the case of attempted deception and KP9000's stance on the matter, I will now proceed to close and eventually dispose of this thread.
