ok so i know how to add ips patches obviously, but heres a question that i have to ask.

alot of prepatched rom hacks on the net have been patched with bad roms, one game in question is alot of the super mario brothers 1 hacks that i cant find ips patches for but were prepatched and distributed without an ips download.

so my question is im trying to play some of these hacks in nestopia but they wont load, some crash, and others start off on world 0-1. so is there a way to remove an ips patch or something where i could patch the data to a clean super mario brothers nes rom somehow? dont know if there is a tool for this but figured i would ask.

In theory, you could make a .isp by running the patch creation script in a patcher like Lunar Magic using the bad ROM as the base and using a base ROM as the "changed" and reverse engineer the edit in a sense. I'm not quite sure if it'd work, but hell, it's worth a shot.

I managed to have this ips patch on me that gets rid of the 0-1 on the old SMB ROMS, it worked wonders on my old Waluigi's Adventure hack that now you can play on FCEUX.

Can't remember who made that ips patch atm... ^^;

There's a program called SMBFix that, true to its name, fixes problems with SMB ROMs that start on 0-1, etc. If I remember correctly, wasn't that particular problem caused by patches being applied to the Playchoice 10 SMB ROM or something like that?

looks like it's a no go on both. i appreciate everyones responses! the hack in question was super mario brothers all star levels. its a rom hack that makes the cpu jam in nestopia for some reason.

Can I go a lot offtopic and ask why do you use a deleted image on your sig?
