Here's the deal, I have hit a brick wall in terms of my MM4 Hack. I also would like to hack some Sonic games too. And I also work a lot on vids on YT. So I leave it to you guys to decide what I should do.

Just my personal take on this kind of situation as it relates to me...

As I see it, to have one project, put it off to the side (assumingly for later) and begin a new project - especially if it means having to "shift hacking modes", learn new programs after working so extensively with others and working around differing gaming dynamics - has the possibility of causing [more] motivation loss when taking into consideration that now you have another thing left unfinished, even if you decide to permanently abandon the previous project (which results in the time devoted to it becoming a considerable waste).

At the same time, it's understandable if the ROM hacker is experimenting and shifting between hacking different games to figure out which game is worth devoting all of their time and effort into seeing it through to the end. In this sense, perhaps switching over to Sonic games is worth it, as you might conclude that it is more enjoyable and worthwhile.

When it comes to YouTube, I personally understand how fun it can be, but at the same time it can consume you - and your free time, which could be more limited than you come to realize. Then if the worst possible thing should happen and you get suspended, or something personally struggling and conflicting occurs that causes you to take drastic action and close your account, all of the time you invested into making your account what it was should it have become anything immediately becomes nothing but a waste. It's happened to quite a few of my friends in the past, and while a few of them did come back, the time it takes to get back to where you were is time that could have been better invested.

In deciding how to devote my own time in assigning and acting on my priorities, I consider completing ROM hacks a lot more rewarding, and YouTube is more like a break - perhaps even a personal reward - for making a lot of progress with my projects. I don't really try to make it too serious a thing because you never know what could happen to YouTube, and the time that you would end up putting into it could have been put into ROM hacking which you could discover is more rewarding for you.

It is really about what you personally would consider more rewarding and how you would prefer to spend your free time. However, if you want to hear what others think to find what could possibly be the more drawing and popular choice or even because you're giving the choice to others for fun, then my vote would be to continue with your MM4 hack. I suppose this poll was created more because you just wanted a break from the hack and not because you don't want to continue it, so maybe making videos on YouTube could be a fun little temporary thing. However, again, in my personal opinion (and from personal experience) I don't believe you should really focus on starting a new major project until after you finish a previous one. The feeling is like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders - and it feels good to get some completed work out there - and then you can enjoy hearing about (as in forum posting) and possibly even watching others play your completed game/hack while you possibly begin your next project. To see your work being enjoyed is a great motivating factor, and could help a new project get off the ground a lot faster than putting an incomplete project off to the side just to escape it after putting so much time and hard work into it just to let it go to waste.

Whatever you decide to pursue though, I wish you the best of luck and success with it! Also, sorry to make such a long and in-depth post that everyone will probably ignore and/or disagree with anyway, but since I could personally relate a lot to what this whole thing was about (especially considering that I'm on a temporary but extended break from ROM hacking; not by choice, but because my current school schedule is literally taking up all of my free time and I hate to not have any choice in the matter) I wanted to take the opportunity to get the point across that you should make an effective use of your free time to do what you really want to do while you still can. So again, best of luck! Okay, I'll stop now...
