It could really be any game that a robot master could be stuck in, honestly, so long as it's Mega Man 1-6, so long as the robot master has the right sprites and such (or the sprites for some things can be easily made).

Mega Man 3 might be neat. Maybe a Shadow Man hack?

It's been awhile since I've been here. I'm working on a new Megaman project called, Megaman Melee.

It's a 2 player game where players can choose the following...

Megaman, Protoman, ALL Robot Masters from Megaman 1-6, Even some versions of Dr.Wily.

I've done some tests where I was able to alter a metools assembly code, to make it so I could make him shoot.

I've been tinkering with the Megaman 5 rom, and I've figured out how to 're-enable' the 2nd contoller. Also in this process, I've found out that Megaman 5 has a 2nd contoller Debug Feature, which I'll share with everyone, a link will be posted at the end of this post.

As of right now, there is no in-game footage or screenshots. I'm currently working on the fighter select screen, adding all the Mugshots, Palettes, Mughshot Sprites, etc, etc.

As for levels. The levels will be 1 screen only, no scrolls, no pits. Each fighter will have they're original level as a background.

I will also be adding additional features like backround enemies that can interfere with the match. One in particular I've been thinking of are the lasers from Quickman's level

Various levels will contain CHR swapping, IRQ scrolls, 'want to fight Gyroman on his elevators?'

I'm not the internet that much anymore due to personal issues I had earlier this year.

In this post I'll include a video showing a very bare fighter select screen, showing off the usage of 2 controllers, the vast amounts of mugshots installed, and my coding of Megaman 8's stage select song.

That's all for now. When I have something more complete where people can try this out, I'll make a new thread in the ROM Hacking section. Take Care everyone.

Problem is that Mega/Rockman 5 has only 1 water stage which is Wily 2. Bascially it's the level number you have to search for but it should be easy for me. I seen most hacks with water levels mostly used outside of Wily 2.

oh no, the water attribute dont ever work no matter what level ya try except wily 2 like insectduel said ??

man that's so stupid that this game also resorts to forcing certain TSA properties to only work on a specific level instead of anytime-anywhere. megaman 4 does that with quite a few. it should be allowed anywhere. the code would need to be edited in order to have it anywhere.

i did it with mm4's properties before when working together with infidel on his ultra 2 hack one time a very long time ago so that all those 1-time only properties could be used anywhere.

This will make the water property work in every level. You will need to edit the rom in hex via a hex editor. If you don't know how, i can't help.
Go to hexadecimal offset 37703, change four bytes (from 37703 to 37706) to: A9 0D C9 0D.

Yeah, if i update the editor, but im not very motivated to do that. Also im not sure how it would be useful.. only if someone who knows ASM wants to use the 2nd controller for something. It could be really easy to put in though.

@Mineyl: Im guessing that they do it that way to prevent slowdowns. If the water is enabled, it calls the hit detect routines more than normally to check if Megaman is in water, and they take a bit of CPU time..

I kinda wish someone would use Slippery (Ice) TSA blocks for Mega Man 4. I mean, I have to choose a stage other than cossack 1 (Hex 08 in RAM $22) with 3 different slippery sets. I've been experimenting this last year but no luck. Even though I did manage to have all Slippery (Ice) TSA blocks for every Megaman 4 levels, the code crashes.

since the subject is on changing TSA properties can someone tell me where to change solid bricks in Flashmans stage from MM2 to death cause I wanna use spikes in the stage Ive seen it done before but the chage change the TSA ladder property which was unused in the original I intend to keep that and the Ice SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME IM SO CLOSE TO FINALLY FINISHING THIS GAME

I normally change the TSA Solidity through Rock5easily's Rockman 2 Editor but I forgot how to use the editor now.

I've haven't use any editors due to busy long-hour working days and interviews.

So if you can make any sense outta this please share the wealth it will make for a happy huff

ok I figured this out atleast what exactly Im trying to do I want to change the attribute of the TSA in flashmans stage but what I mean by that is I want to change what the attribute is defined as example in Flashman the 4 attributes are Backround Ladder Solid and Ice I want to change the solid to death keeping the attibutes of Backround Ladder and Ice unchanged I dont know what to do from here on if anyone understands it please drop a line I dont see in any editor how this can be done but if there is an editor out there that could change the attibute of a defined TSA set what is it cause ill try it
