OOOOOooooor it's cached on your end.

Seriously, when everyone else says there's no squares, don't say there are.

I find it impossible to believe that there are no squares when;
1. It was working last night
2. I HAVE cleared my cache
3. Apart from Traffic Light, you're the only one complaining

There were squares when I first looked but they just disappeared.

Two Three people, different locations, same problem: no squares.

Fix it (re: Imageshack, not googlepages) or quit bitching about everyone not seeing what's broke.

It's not my problem if you use a broken browser.

roxahris, ALL people that have commented don't see the squares, so congrats on getting the only not broken browser on the planet.

PS - The image is intentionally crappy.

This is your layout on Opera 10.10:

This is your layout on Opera 10.50 b2, which blows 10.10's CSS3 support out the water:

There's a missing fonts problem because 10.50 is running on an under-equipped VM, but is that the basic effect you're after?

It's exactly what I was after.

Oddly enough, the background isn't actually working for me now in Firefox... but it was before. Strange, isn't it?

background:
url("http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/1/30/2292969/bg2_r.png") bottom left repeat-x,
url("http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/1/30/2292969/bg1_r.png") top left repeat,
url("http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/1/30/2292969/bg2_r.png") bottom left repeat-x;

Apparently even Firefox 3.5.8 can't handle that. 'Cause I don't see the background either.

It works perfectly in Firefox 3.6
Suggestion: Add a thick dark drop shadow to your text, that'll make it more readable.

Extra rendering time, cross-browser incompatibility, and general "look at me I'm fancy" bullshit.

Yeah, but it makes stuff a hell of a lot more readable.

Or you could apply common sense and get to "readable" the same way.

For instance, my layout. Fixed-width in a reasonably readable font, handles bold, italic, underline, strikethrough without becoming unreadable, handles links without them being unreadable or undistinguishable... really, you shouldn't have to tack extra crap on to make readable text.

Extra rendering time
If your browser needs a noticable time to render those shadows, get a better browser. Or faster computer, but "better browser" is the, shall we say, usual fix so that one goes first.

reasonably readable font

But l and 1 look too similar on your font. The 0 is not slashed (a problem only for Fixed-width fonts when an O isn't around for comparison). Also, why mono-spaced anyway? I think that justified text looks the best.

On an unrelated note, look at me I'm fancy.

I kinda like the traffic light in your layout, actually. As for another thing that could fall under "fancy", GreyMario's dynamic signature.
