Posted by AnAxemRanger Ok thanks. Though I savestate when I went backwards, I was lucky enough to make backup savestate slots after I beaten a major boss, so all isn't lost. Just gonna have to start back before I entered the forest area. Also, thanks for the update and fast response. Great to hear a patch is coming soon and thanks for the advice. I am really enjoying this game and I have to say, this is the best Super Mario RPG I ever played!. Just a couple of question unrelated to the bugs/glitches. 1) Is this storyline like a fan made prequel of Super Mario RPG and a side story how the Axem Rangers formed? I really liked how each member met each other and seeing a few characters like Jinx and Torte starting to form and meet each other too. 2) Will Mario be in this game as bonus boss or something? Or is he completely scrapped from the game? That would be so cool to have Mario a secret boss or something. Btw, I love that NES Easter Egg at booster tower. The Sprite Mario caught me off gaurd and that was genius how you implemented that! |

Hey people,
I've heard about several glitches in this game that have been game breaking for some people (some of you more clever people have found ways around them). Good citizens, know that your cries have not gone unnoticed. But alas, I have not had much time to work on this game. This particular semester has kept me very busy so progress has been very slow. Plus, I've already started some work on my Koopa Bros. hack (which by the way will completely blow this hack out of the water in terms of awesomeness) so the will to continue working on this hack is minimal. Priorities, my friends. However, as a measure of good faith I have created a patch that should fix any game-breaking errors you may have encountered, as well as fix a few other minor errors. Also, if your game freezes at some particular point during a battle or event or something, there is a good chance that it is a problem with your emulator, not the game itself. I know I've said this before, but I still receive emails and such with these problems so I thought I'd mention it. Anyway, here's the new patch: https://rapidshare.com/files/573948543/Axem_Rangers_ver_2.1.rar You could also get it from the uploader here. I tested this patch by applying it to a clean SMRPG rom, so if you try to apply this patch to an already patched Axem Rangers Rom, explosions might happen... or at the very least it won't work. However, if you simply replace your old Axem Rangers .smc file with a newly patched one, your old .src (save file) should, in theory, still work. But don't quote me on that. For a (small) list of what exactly was fixed in this version, see the "changes" text file included in the download. |

Do I get behind the boxes in cocoa mountain? Im in bowsers keep. I didn't beat mani mani or boomer the second time. Nor did I get the seed or fertilizer. Wait I got one of them by I forget which. Anyway what other extra things are there to do before I continue through the gAme?

You'll be able to get behind those boxes later. It's part of the story, and it happens some time after Bowser's Keep.
Let's see... there's the Mani Mani, Boomer, the seed and fertilizer, the hidden fight in Booster Tower (which isn't really all that hidden), the treasure room underneath Pipe Vault, the twin snake fight in Barrel Volcano, the hidden level underneath seaside town... There may be more but I can't think of them off the top of my head. |

i did the side quest under seaside town and the treasure under pipe vault. i didnt know there were hidden bosses in barrel volcano and booster university ill have to go back and check that out. im really glad to hear there is more after the keep. this is probably the best hack iv played i don't really want it to end. i cant wait to play the koopa bros one when you finish. but thank you for the help. now i have to download the 2.1 and apply it and hope my save file is still there. thanks again

Right, so I downloaded the v2.0 of this game, and while finding a number of glitches, exploits, NPC-blocking skips, a lot of palette mishaps, several "timing" aspects of event scripts, and some layering issues, this was pretty fun after I cheated and could take less than half an hour or so to beat each individual boss, the story and dialouge were both funny and entertaining.
You've certainly done a ton of work in this hack, and by standards of length and number of hacks that even exist, this might be the best hack out there that is fan made and not made by Giangurolo. This was certainly fun to play, see the little hidden things here and there, reading descriptions, watching animations, ecetra. Plus I'm sure you're coming back to see the feedback on your game anyway, as that's what I do on here. I do come back here to see feedback on the game, and I do really appreciate it. I love knowing what people like about the game and what people hate so I can make my next project that much better. I'm especially glad when people notice the little details about the game. Anyone who tried extensive hacking of this game could probably tell you that even the seemingly small things in reality aren't that easy to do.
I know this game is far from perfect, but it's playable and as long as people enjoy it I feel like I've done good. I am concerned that I may have made some battles a little too hard though, or at the very lest a bit tedious. |

no you didnt make it too hard. in the beginning it was a little difficult but its not supposed to be easy. i like that its harder but not as hard as the Armageddon hack (which my brother played and is at the end after only 2 days) it was really creative i like that bowsers castle was not the last level. you think it is then all of a sudden your going back to other levels for more action. i liked the last weapons the quake hammer is my favorite and the pink laser. sometimes the quake hammer glitches a little but thats no big deal at all. a few f the glitches i saw were involving going back t previous places you were not ment to like the cocoa mountain cave if you go back after beating giovanni they are still there and if you go in the hole the game freezes and the pallet of the secret grove looked a little glitchy and off. but oh well thats not even important. im at the factory now the only problem is i cant find the seed and fertilizer anywhere. but all around its a great game. |

there is a glitch in marrymore where axem black tells you to make like a mario and jump then after I jump I go through the walls in a endless loop and that's on version 2.1 |

if king thwamp supposed to be in bowsers castle at the end where the giant thwamp is i cant go there cause again once you pass the number 1 door you fight the enemies in the action room then in the second room the game freezes when you walk up to the statues. this only happens the second time going through.
and also im supposed to use a yoshi cookie on the underguy to get the fertilizer. so i equip the speed demon and use the cookie on him but it just gives me a yoshi candy instead of eating him and giving me the fertilizer. i even opened the smc in lazy shell to see if that was the monster that you get it from and it is. the seed is supposed to be in a shop but none of the shops in the game have it. these were just a couple of things that i noticed and didnt know if i was just being an idiot or if there is actually a problem |

Alright so here are my questions as well as a few things I am not sure whether or not to understand...
1) Can you confirm where and how to get the fertilizer? For those that do not know how to get the seed, you have to fight punchinello in the cocoa lake place where you could play music with the tadpoles. Upon beating him you can buy the seed with frog coins. 2) In the casino.. there are absolutely no games and playing look the other way with the jester stops the game from working, is that normal ? Also does the under construction area open ever? For those wondering how to get in the casino, go to booster tower after beating Jesters initially and then play the ball game with the one jester. After you win a few times you will fight a boss. Do not over complicate things and simply use the geno whirl move and time it properly to one shot him. I do not believe that this boss can be beaten in any other way. 3) In the sky area, if you wish to play the mini game, the game will send you to a gecko fight in what seems to be like bowsers castle, I did not fight them to see afterwards, I simply loaded a save state. 4) There is a chest in mushroom kingdom in the castle above the door that cannot be reached... did I screw up to get it? Also does the treasure room ever open? 5) In the boo mansion, there is an empty room ( if you go left instead of up to fight the ghost of the boss from barrel volcano) and I was not able to find anything in there.. should I look harder? That is all I can think about now.. hopefully you can reply soon  |

I'm guessing you're the same guy who just posted some of these questions on Gamefaqs lol. I answered some of your questions there but I'll answer them here to for those who might have similar problems.
1) The fertilizer is in pipe vault. The talking chest in monstro town hints at this one. You must find a Shy Ranger and successfully use a Yoshi Cookie on it. 2) The casino gave me endless amounts of trouble with the games. Seriously, glitch city right there. So no, there are no other games there and that ain't gonna change. As far as the Jester battle goes, what exactly happens? Does the game freeze and not allow you to move? Is the screen black or are you still in battle or after battle? Can you hear music? I've found that post-battle freezing is most often a result of emulator problems so you may try finding a different emulator or version of an emulator and seeing if that helps. As far as difficulty is concerned, you definitely can beat him normally as I've done it personally. There is not a boss in this game that should require the Geno Whirl move. I knew I should've taken that move out... 3) That is a known error that should have been fixed in the new ver 2.1 patch. 4) That can't be reached, I simply forgot to remove it from the game. Sorry! The vault will be opened at some point, it should be part of the story. 5) That place is largely empty and there's nothing in that particular room. I did have some big plans for that area, but I made it towards the end of the hack and by that point this game was giving me so many glitches and bugs that I simply had to keep it as simple as possible. |

Sorry I guess I was not clear enough about the Jester issue. I am referring to the Jester game (look the other way) in the casino, the boss works just fine.

Can you describe it a little more? Does the game freeze as soon as you speak to him? Or is it after you play a round? Does it depend on if you win or lose? |

It happens on the first round and does not matter whether you win or lose. The people in my party are red, green, and black as well if that makes a difference. I did not try using other characters. |
