Hey all. Remember me? I have updated the game to fix the game breaking errors that some people were reporting.
This version also changes some things, most noticeably enemy stats are lowered in general. The game was pretty difficult and a lot of people found that they had to grind to get anywhere. This version should change that.

As a side note, I've been working with a small, independent group that likes to put ROM hacks on actual, physical SNES cartridges and sells them. We're still in the process of making things work, but I will give more details on that as we move along. Progress is slow, but it is there.

This should in theory fix any game breaking errors, but there are undoubtedly still plenty of more minor errors to fix, but I simply don't have the time. I'd rather focus on my Koopa Bros. hack anyway.

For those of you tuning in for the first time, let me tell you a bit about what exactly I'm talking about.
This is an ips patch that, when applied to a fresh Super Mario RPG ROM, will change your game into Legend of the Axem Rangers. This is an entirely new game that changes the characters, enemies, NPCs, events, levels, items, equipment, and more. It's an entirely new game! You can read more about it in the "Read Me" file that comes in the download.
If you love Super Mario RPG, I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed!

Hey you're actually very good at sprites. By the way, do you know how to fit the Wario sprites into the game?

Here's an example:



It's hard for me to fit all the sprites to make a Wario model.

I remember you Shadic! You're one of the few people who actually showed any interest in my hack ongfaqs. Good to see you here.

Anyway Fenrir, I'm not really sure what you mean. If you're talking about sticking a whole new character into the game I don't think you can do that because of limited ROM space. To add in a new character you'd have to overwrite an existing one. For all of the axem rangers I have to draw over there corresponding character. For example, All of Mario's sprite molds and grid tiles have been redrawn as axem red. Mario does not exist in my ROM at the moment.
Of course, drawing Wario would probably be harder than the rangers. The rangers actually exist in this game, unlike Wario, so I have a template to work off of.

I already have all the Wario sprites, and yes.. the limited ROM space is the same reason that prevented me to add Wario into the game, but I have found useless graphics on offset 320000+ that can be overwritten. I dunno if they are sufficient enough to contain all of Wario's animations, but my main problem right now is how to fit all the Wario sprites into the cardboard. There are 3 cardboards.. 1 for map sequence, 1 for battle, and 1 for spell, item, and attack. My problem is the third one. There are too many sprites to fit into the board. I think they need some extra cutting.

Going back to your hack, are you planning to add new spells for the Axem Rangers? You've helped me beta test my hack, so I'm offering you my help.. I think I can help you create new spells. Lemme know if you need me.

If you need more space for sprites you could just write over Mallow and Geno's sprites if you're not using them.

I'd be happy to let you beta test, but this hack is still very incomplete. It's pretty far from the testing stages. If I can think of some cool new spells or item animation I'd love to add them. But Lazy Shell doesn't offer a spell editing feature (unless 2.1 gets released) so how would you edit spells?

It's not mine though. It's from a guy who calls himself Wario. I've found it on a sprite resource site, unfortunately, I couldn't find a Luigi sprite.

I'm still thinking if I would add it. I might screw up the entire graphics set.

So I was brainstorming as I was drawing sprites yesterday and I came up with a couple ideas:
I was thinking I would definitely include Booster Tower or something Booster related in this hack. I wanted to show a couple things:

1. Snifit 2 stading in front of a bunch of those blue snifit deciding which he should hire as snifit 3. He would be talking to them all like a drill sergeant: "You think You're ready to serve Booster? Do you think you can do the black uniform justice?!?"
2. Snifit 1 hiring Grate Guy and Knife Guy as Booster's entertainers. Of course, Snifit 1 is more professional than snifit 2: "Do you have any previous experience as entertainers?"

The death animation for green is a lil off. He looks as if he's bowing. I suggest you reposition him with his head pointing Northeast instead of North.

The Snifit event you describe requires you to add a new event script. Be warned though. Adding a new script will move the jump to addresses causing other running scripts to go haywire.

Yeah, hopefully I can learn to use the event scripts as time goes by. But for now I'm still working on sprites.

The feet aren't really that big of a deal to me. I might go back and fix them later. But I want to get the majority of the sprites out of the way before I go to little fine-tuning. Hopefully the new 2.1 that was just released will fix some of the sprite errors that occur.

I'm visiting my family for the next two weeks so I don't how much I will be able to get done. Don't expect an update for awhile
