I have no idea what's wrong with it. Entering it through Hyrule Magic crashes it. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to remove it and build a workaround.

Its these damn irrepairable glitches that make me want to start afresh instead instead of trying to repair a leaking ship.

Ah, so that's what it was. I was poking around in hmagic the other day, flipping throughlevels, and it crashed. Well I say just do your best to finish and repair it, then have the sequel be clean and shiny and beautiful inside and out.

The sequel is beautiful. I've already pumped a lot of work into it. I've done minor edits to the hud, plan to incorporate Japs's day/night asm, have finally got that damn crossbow working, and have awesome dungeon ideas. Until I gt a new keyboard, the third dungeon will have to wait. The dungeons I do have so far are the town you start out in (an inn and a mansion), The Temple of Eternal Darkness, Laria cliffs (looks nothing like the Illusion of Gaia one, unfortunately) and my natest one so far is the Hadrack desert/Hadrack temple dungeon.

I do have a wish list for some things, though, especially ASM and a little music. I'll talk to you later about sprites, Haz. I will also accept dungeon designs and stuff.

ASM-
Book of Mudora regens magic while selected. (although this might be basic hex.) It means I could use larger, tougher bosses without the risk of magic depletion.
Area name display, since it made navigation easier in Para. worlds.
Remove arrow inhibitor, allowing multiple arrows in the air at any time.
Rockvan Soldier Shields, giving soldiers shields with either properties like Links or properties like those used on armored boss parts and Palace Guard Shields.

Gerudo Valley music.
Something frosty for the final boss.

New graphics in general. Although Haz is working on this, he does have his own stuff to do in life, and having graphics from multiple people adds more selection for me. Anyways, I want to divide some projects to keep them secret. But especially common objects.

So does this mean that you've just given up on this and moved on to bigger and better things? Also try to make the crossbow look more like he's holding it and less like it was just set on top of him.

I'll do some more support for RoR, but mostly just make the game beatable.

How would you suggest I make the crossbow look like he's holding it?

Dungeons-
-Fixed a glitch in my first dungeon, unfortunately by removing the Armos knights as the boss, as the shake on the last one went out of control
.

Not sure if you ever got around to fixing them but i had a similar issue when hacking Bruce Campbell vs Ganon. Sorry to say it also affected Ganon so just removing Armos knights are not going to help you....... because Ganon uses the same quake code unless you change the code Ganon uses, anyhow I was able to fix the issue with the help of MathOnNapkings.....here is the fix in a hex editor (assuming you don't have a header) 0xE8000 from 7F 80 to 01 FF. The byte I mentioned effects how much camera shake to use and for some reason Hyrule magic messes it up quite often.....any how hope that helps and It would be great to get an update as I would like to do a Let's Play of this on youtube.

Sorry its been a rediculously long time. Unfortunately, havent't had my laptop in over two months. The motherboard got damaged just after getting back from vacation and Dell has pretty terrible service in South Korea. I'm not sure if Ruins will ever be truly fixed, but I will try my best. Additionally, during the time I have had my laptop, I've been working on a seperate Z3 hack, a sequel. I'm keeping a tighter eye on glitches, mostly be setting a ton of preset keystrokes to auto-play dungeons, so I'm not bothered by tedious replaying every time I change something. Anyways, without my laptop, I've had time to plan, draw, etc. And I have alot of ideas, which I should be able to implement fairly quickly.

I haven't left, just sleeping for a bit. But get ready, cause I am going to fix as much as RoR as possible, at least to playablility. However, I'm thinking of this as a test, and the results are making the second one so much better.

I'm almost surprised at the fact that the patch doesn't work. What is the original file used? Does the ROM need special treatment before applying the patch? This is getting annoying...

I used the US rom, called this:
Legend Of Zelda, The - A Link To The Past (U) [!].smc

I've only patched it using LIPS or SNES9X's built in patch program. Like it says in the readme, if SNES9X, name the two files the same thing minus extension, eg: ROR.smc and ROR.ips. If that doesn't work, than I don't know.

ROR_V4.ips file can be normally patched to the rom
Zelda - A Link to the Past.smc (last changed on march 28 1996).

Most ips files work with this rom, so get it.

Doesn't work, it's probably my emulator that can't process some weird code or something like that. I tried both methods, patching and SNES9X's built-in patching, and same result. I can't use LIPS. I use UIPS. Both original and patched ROMs start with these bytes:

78 9C 00 42 9C 0C 42 9C 0B 42 9C 40 21 9C 41 21
9C 42 21 9C 43 21 A9 80 8D 00 21 18 FB C2 28 A9
00 00 5B A9 FF 01 1B E2 30 20 01 89 20 C0 87 A9
81 8D 00 42 A5 12 F0 FC 58 80 16 A5 F6 29 20 F0

Original ROM checksum: 5954C2C9
Patched ROM checksum: A320403A

Original ROM size: 100000 (1048576 decimal)
Patched ROM size: 101089 (1052809 decimal)

I use the standard CRC-32 checksum algorithm...
