I'm most likely just being stupid here, but how do I change the palette that a world map uses (with Reuben)? I made my own palette and tried switching to it and Save&Close-ing, but it didn't actually make the switch.

Edit: nevermind, I found it myself.

Wait what, I knew that snes could do that, but nes, what the fuck..

Someone who has powerpak for nes should try that on real nes, I wonder if it works :\

It works, flawlessly. On PAL and NTSC.

You just gave it away!

On another note, I like how Reuben doesn't let you put more than four pointers on a map. >.>

EDIT: On a final note, is it feasible to start making projects with the regular SMB3 ROM, or should I just wait until 1.0?

It's impossible to use a regular SMB3 rom for this. Reuben doesn't pull any data from the rom, it saves all the data in external files and saves it to the rom.

OH! Wow, I didn't think when I posted that. So I'm assuming that starting a project with this is okay and I'll be able to just upgrade to 1.0 when it's released and continue my project?

Yes, if you start a project with this now, all future versions of reuben will remain backwards compatible.

Coolbeans. Also, is there a way to put more than four pointers on a world map with the current public release, or should I just make all my levels and wait until 1.0?

EDIT: Final question, I promise. How do I make a mushroom house / roulette game? I don't see any of the object sets that SMB3WS used for them.

Mushroom Houses and Roulette games are still being reimplemented. As far as more pointers on maps, I thought you could enter more than 4 pointers on a map, I'll double check. The limit is 4 pointers per stage and there's both limitation and philosophical reasons for that (I think if you have more than 4 pointers on a stage, it's probably going to be a poor level).

After I put four pointers into a map, the Add button is just greyed out and I can't add any more. Is this fixed in one of the later builds? I could probably get a trial of Visual Studio and compile (assuming that's what Reuben is written in...)

There are free ("Express") versions of Visual Studio, you know. Also, since the program is written in C#, I'd say that's a definite "yes".

Using Reuben as of now is pretty annoying, especially with all the errors that blow up in your face like some kinda minefield... the worst ones are those which appear when trying to load stuff.
EDIT: Nevermind that bit. You need to save your data to make the program work. Although if it isn't implemented yet, you should add a box that tells you that you haven't saved your work. :|

Just saying. But besides that, this looks like a solid editor right now, and I wait for more updates.

I feel ya! There are many errors. I can't even create a sky level that Mario jumps into from a Red Music Block. Maps are not in there either. And Dark Daze said he's gonna pick back up on it... > . >

There IS world map editing included. You need to right click on the world name to summon Edit World. But it SHOULD be made more obvious...

All of that is to be expected in a beta program. Besides he's probably been updating it on google code...
