As I said in IRC, this is the only project I actually want to finish. I always abandoned old projects... but during work and free time I think about hacking SMB3 a lot. It always brings me back. Just some bugs that are holding me back though from actually making a playable hack... but it is a beta and it's expected.

This is why I'm making the hack... so I could encounter all of the bugs one would encounter if they made a hack; on top of doing abnormal stuff to see if it breaks.

Wow, I had no idea this had come out yet. I should have checked in here more often! Big SMB3 fan, looking forward to trying this out. Keep up the great work, DahrkDaiz!

lol. Where do you see a download link for the release? nothing released saves to roms anyway... I'm one of his beta testers and got a special copy.

I'm talking about the demo at the start of the topic. I had read about DD making a SMB3 editor way back before this topic was started, but I only just now found out that significant progress had been made.

He's just a piece of shit troll.
He obviously never heard of people having lives and having to do things more important than ROM hacking.

So where is the link? Right! See the other SM3 editor up here? It actually exists. I downloaded it and had a ton of fun. Mario Adventure had to be real, and maybe this Luigi v mario stuff. But this?

Maybe people would be more inclined to help you if your post tone wasn't "Fuck you, appease me or you're shit to me."

None of his posts have been anything proper, nice, or have exhibited any sort of knowledge whatsoever about anything (see: "Background is blinding" re: "crumpled paper" - seriously, what the fuck?).

We could ignore him

Or we could countertroll him

If you actually took time to educate yourself on this editor and the lifestyle of its author you'd quite possibly understand that something like this isn't developed overnight. Irrational beliefs such as "It's taking too long, so it's not real" and "another editor is out and usable, so this one should be" is, at best, obnoxious and unintelligent. (I'd like to point out that this is detrimental to your case should we be making disciplinary decisions in the future as staff of Board2) I suggest you stop getting so bent out of shape because you don't have this awesome tool at your disposal just yet. It takes time to make things like this and the author can release it whenever he sees fit, regardless of what he said in the past. I dunno how old you are, but it sounds like you haven't really experienced life's real problems/setbacks/changes which puts you at a major disadvantage to seeing both points of view, (assuming you are even the least intelligent enough) therefore leaving you with a horrible bias towards your irrational and foolish view of your own.

I don't feel I have to prove to you that this editor is genuine in any way, but for the record, I have a fully working beta build of this editor and it works wonderfully. It has some bugs, but that's what beta testing is for.

Unless otherwise welcomed by the author, I want no further derailure of this thread. Take anything to PM if you still think you can hold a candle to this argument.

I apologize angel, here's the on going latest source code.

http://code.google.com/p/reuben-smb3/

Of course, you have to compile it first yourself first, and you have to find the special rom that only the testers have Btw guys, I'm working on this again, thanks for being patient.

Anyways, many of you may be wondering what the hold up is at this point. These are the things I'm working on before a public release:

-Generic data manager (for editing non-level stuff)
-various ui bugs
-various rom based bugs

After that the project will go into open beta. Yes, still beta, but at this point, as I release new updates, people won't have to trash their existing projects like before. What's left for 1.0?

-Editing lock positions on the map
-modifying pointers to exit on different parts of the map
-making sure things such as the king's castle, mushroom houses, and bonus games are working
-making sure the princess's dungeon sequence still works

after that, 1.0 release! (no date this time)

Here's the special ROM you need. Make sure it loads first before using it with the editor, I had some issues with it beforehand.

Let me just say, I knew what this was going to be before I even downloaded it (I've seen the SMW equivalent)

But on a purely technical level, this is damn impressive in my eyes. Or ears.

Would this work on a real NES, or would it be FUBAR? It'd be great for an idea of mine, that's all.

A little too pastel, but otherwise agreed.

It works, flawlessly. On PAL and NTSC.
