Two Final Fantasy midi medleys. Including some Chrono Trigger for ill-defined reasons.

Mostly just more Renard/Aliases music. What can I say, it's good music.

Still listening to game OSTs. Only now I've added Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Legend of Mana to the queue of playlists.

I'm currently listening, as I was most of yesterday, to the opening song for Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex, Inner Universe. I think it's a very nice song.

If there's one thing wrong with it, it has to be that I was stupid enough to read TVTropes' Crowning Moments of Heartwarming with it on repeat.

I remember hearing that song in a flash loop years ago at like 18kbps MP3. It was hardly discernible, but thanks to nativeness and the peculiar sound of the language, I kind of recognized it as Russian. Needless to say, I was surprised when I looked it up and found myself confirmed.

The Russian does sound nice. But is it and the given translation correct?

The singer is a Russian native. What given translation are you talking about, though?

I'd quote the fansub's OP, but that's impossible without my external HD. So here's the next best thing.

That translation (it seems like it either was distilled from Google/Babelfish or made by somebody with fragmentary and superficial knowledge of Russian) is pretty bad - but then, even the transliteration of the original lyrics they provide is off at times. [A very small number of lines also is ambiguous due to unclear pronunciation]

In other words, squared failure.

In semi-related news, for a quite interesting example by the same singer,
Russian / Japanese version of the same song (the lyrics are pretty close in spirit, although far from being literal translation). (You can here her Japanese having a fairly thick Russian accent here...)

That's too bad about the translations, but those videos seem interesting.

To post about what I'm actually listening to, Aimo O.C. from Macross Frontier is quite good at evoking a kind of patriotism for a non-existing country, doubly so if you understand the lyrics.

"Premonition" by Buckethead from his first of 4 albums released so far in 2009. Probably one of my favourite songs off the album, although of course I really enjoy the whole thing. For some reason though, this song especially appeals to me.

I recently heard Hall & Oates with Maneater on the radio and this song stuck for me immediately. I just like the overall sound of this song.

Maneater? Shoot, we're going back too many decades from when I was a kid and liked their Greatest Hits album. And then they were found out to be ghey and they went downhill after that.

Warmen's Salieri Strikes Back. Old metal from '02. Beyond Abilities album is a must if you're into things such as this. Actually, Beyond Abilities the song is wonderful.

To avoid making another weeaboo music post,

Ville Valo & Natalia Avelon - Summer Wine

I remember hearing this song on the radio on the way back from some Physics olympiad/competition where my Physics teacher drove me and another participant from the same school. The teacher, then, mentioned that it was one of his favourite songs; surprisingly, I found that I liked it too.

Graeham Goble was a member of a band a really like, Little River Band. However, a lot of shit happened, and he broke off. He doesn't approve of stuff that happened to the band, which can be heard in that last song on the page. This was a solo album he produced, and I really like it. Only thing to listen to on School Internet, heheh.

Link to the Mask, a recent remix from OCRemix, and my goodness is it strange. It certainly breaks convention, but in a pleasing way.

"Black Tears" by Heaven Shall Burn was something I just found earlier. Everyone had to choose a song to analyze its lyrics, and one person chose "The Weapon They Fear" by Heaven Shall Burn for theirs, and I found it interesting and decided to check out some of their other stuff too.

I am listening to 鐵血丹心. It is the opening to Legend of the Condor Heroes (1983), and is sung in my native language, Cantonese. I highly recommend this song and the accompanying drama to everyone here.
