Ive been listening to a lot of Touhou music lately.

TH7: Perfect Cherry Blossom: I have been listening to this set the least. It also has no fade out

TH8: Imperishable Night: Awesome game with a lot of awesome music.

TH9: Phantasmagoria of Flower View: Very nice remixes of previous songs + some new ones.

TH9.5: Not that many songs and they are all short but they are still good

TH10tr: Mountain of Faith: Not that many mainly because it is the trial version. Still very catchy music.

Megamari: Very awesome Touhousized megaman like music.

Super Marisa World: This type of music will get stuck in my head all day

Artist: The Pillows
Album: Happy Bivouac
Song: Beautiful Morning With You

Earlier, I was listening to a bunch of harder rock songs, like Dir en Grey and D'espairs Ray, but now I feel calmer, so that's what I'm listening to. My music depends on my mood.

Chilled: Slow rock, slow pop, R & B
Angry: Hard rock, hard rap, slow "sneaky" music [like Stalker by The Pillows]
Sad: Sad pop, R & B, soft rock
Excited: Dance, fast rock, fast music in general

So yeah. That's pretty much it.

Artist:Orphaned Land
Album:Mabool
Song:Building The Ark

This has to be one of the best sounding bands out there. The perfect combination of Ethnic music and Heavy Metal. This particular song is very slow paced and is pretty much like listening to some Bangra, but with the extra Guitar notes in there. Now, "Halo Dies (The Wrath Of God)" is a different story. The distortion Guitar adds the heavy metal sound, and the lead singer brings in the screaming and it just sounds completely different. And then finally, "Norra El Norra (Entering The Ark)" mixes both together to make a kickass melody.

PS: They're from Tel-Aviv. Thats why I say Ethnic.

Slade - Run Runaway

This is one of my favorite bouncy, cheerful songs. I first heard a snippet of it on a commercial for some music compilation. It grabbed me right away, but I didn't hear it in its entirety until four years ago, when I started a new job and was assigned an office mate who loved to listen to a popular Shoutcast '80s channel. I found the mp3 somewhere and wound up bringing it along to my wedding later that year. I had requested the song on my "must play" list, but like some other favorites, it was not in the DJ's collection. The DJ played it. It was a hit. The song will forever remind me of stomping around in bare feet, holding up the skirt of my formal pure black gown (yeah, my wedding was unconventional) with a big old grin on my face.

Jay-Z: Black Album, Blueprint (select songs), Reasonable Doubt

Let's face it, Hov is the best rapper alive. Period.

I had the Grey Album for a long time, and I thought that was pretty rad, but then I listened to some of his stuff from The Blueprint, and I got hooked, so I went back to the original Black Album, which of course was a classic.

So Many Dynamos: Indie/experimental band from St Louis, just filled with religious references, catchy lines, deep shit overall. Check out the CD Flashlights, it's just gold from top to bottom. Of course the mainstream will never listen to them, but they're just a solid band.

Sound Of Animals Fighting: Never heard the 2nd CD, cause I was told it blew, but the first is pretty wild. Great music for running, if nothing else.

np: Rammstein: "Stripped"

As per AMG: "Of course, it doesn't quite answer the question of whether a Depeche Mode tribute album was necessary, but almost all tribute albums are unnecessary." In case you couldn't tell, that was in reference to For the Masses, which came out back in 1998. I'm still trying to make sense of why they'd have the Cure cover "World In My Eyes" seeing as that's like asking the Rolling Stones to cover "Ticket to Ride" or some shit, but it works. Also, who were the ad wizards that plopped friggin' DISHWALLA on here? (They did "Policy of Truth" and sounded embarrassingly close to Depeche Mode.) But there are several good covers on this album, and this album-closer is one of them. I mean, it also proves that Till Lindemann should never, ever sing in Engilsh... AGAIN, but I'll be damned if they don't go out there and make the song their own.

Oh, and Failure continues to be an embarrassment on the music industry in general. Thanks for raping "Enjoy the Silence", assholes!

(Clarification: They make "Enjoy the Silence" sound like a Failure song... the problem being that Failure's songs aren't very good at all. MAYBE the guitar tones once the obligatory post-chorus "all right, now's when we kick your ass" bit are useful, but... I've got nothing else positive to say about it. But hey, if you can find the album for $1.50, like I did, go get it.)

I bought an MP3 CD with all 30 Japanese Ranger opening themes as it was just after the 30th Series (Their version of Operation Overdrive) My faves are anything Power Rangers based (Minus Wild Force) - Japanese versions. I also reecntly at the start of this year listened to the new one which will be the basis for Power Rangers Jungle Fury in 2008.

Nest: "Calmly Passing Monument"
Album: Woodsmoke

Nest is one man, and blends his instrumental music with eastern strings and flutes in an ethnic blend of music that resonates with a Middle Earthy feel to it at times.

This song tells a tale of an old king, reminiscing of his youth before the moment of his death. Vocals are used here in English, but they are low and rather obscure. Still, they are discernible if you listen hard enough.

Bran Van 3000: "Astounded"

See what happens when great record labels go under? YOU. Don't get to hear great songs such as this. It's Curtis Mayfield's last recorded session, and Jamie DiSalvo et al put some damn good music behind it. I wouldn't necessarily say it's the best that could've been done, but it fits VERY well. Besides, the important thing is it's Curtis Fuckin' Mayfield singing. Listen to it (if you can find it on the Interwebs... shouldn't be that hard, if the right people are on Soulseek, as odds are you'll have a hard time finding this CD legitimately) and try to tell me his falsetto doesn't give you shivers. Probably the best song by an underrated collective (seriously, did anyone even so much as take "Drinking In L.A." seriously, never mind they released more than that one song?).

I'm not going to blow 12 to 20 bucks to buy a CD to find out there are 11 really bad songs. I'd as sooner borrow it. Music sucks because the producers push projects out too quick. That's why people look through the CDs and pull the one really good one and leave the rest alone. When they have 12 they tend to make their own disks.

while everybody claims not to do it I hold the CD producers responsable for the rushed release theory which is a really bad idea. That's the one thing that can kill sales rather than help sales.

Wierd Al waits 3 to 4 years between CD launches and there haven't been too many disappointments by him lately because of it. If more companies took that time people would want to buy their CDs. But no they have to push them out right away. That's the reason most music sucks and why I never listen to ANY of it any more.

@Simango: That's not always true though, try listening to Nightwish. They've put out 5 albums since 2000, with the sixth coming out this year. All their music's great... only the odd song isn't as good, because they go for the slower style once or twice in the album.

Anyways...

Song: Amaranth
Artist: Nightwish

From "Dark Passion Play" which isn't out yet
Although it's got a voice-over halfway through ("You are listening to the Nightwish album "Dark Passion Play".... etc.)

Album: Once
Artist: Nightwish

So far, their best album, IMO.
Using a full orchestra and 12 (18?) person choir only made things better.

Song: The Reason
Artist: Hoobastank
Album: The Reason

Dunno, this song just got stuck in my head, and now I'm listening to it.

Nest - "Across the Waters"

Soothing environmental sounds of trickling rivers with a nordic string picking instrument along with woodwinds and quiet, mellow bass cello strings barely audible in the background.

Nest is one of the most beautiful artists I have ever heard. Listen to his stuff.

MuggleCast Episode 96: More Shows, More Problems
By Andrew Sims, Jamie Lawrence, Micah Tannenbaum, and Greg Porter

For those you may complain, the thread is titled, "What Are You Listening To" not "What MUSIC are you Listening to?" and Mugglecast is an audio podcast, so you listen to it.

Song: On & On & On
Artist: Streetlight Manifesto
Album: I don't know.

Streetlight Manifesto is a great ska band. I find that this song in particular is very catchy and very fast. Not to mention, it goes into a little "Canon" thing in the middle.

Song: When the Levee Breaks
Artist: Led Zeppelin
Album: Early Days

Zeppelin is always a classic. I like this song because it's so bluesy and whatnot. Zeppelin's music isn't confided to just rock. They've got so many different sounds, it's really quite incredible.

Song: I tried
Artist: Akon (ft Bone Thugz)

If you're feeling bad about something or you screwed something up in your life, this is a great song to console yourself with. Everyone makes an effort and no matter what, adversity will always come back. I think the tune is relaxing and helps ease a lot of stress. The tune is freaking sick and I love it.

Akon is the shit. I also recommend listening to "Sorry, put the blame on me".

* KP9000 is listening to: Darkesword - Metroid Prime 2 Torvus Clockwork OC ReMix (mp3) [Length: 04:25] [160Kbps] [44KHz]

And, here is a paragraph.

A male mantis approaches a female, flapping his wings and swaying his abdomen. Leaping on her back, he begins to mate. And quite often, she tears off his head. The female mantis devours the head of the still-mating male and then moves on to the rest of his body. If you put a pair together and come back later, you’ll just find the wings of the male and no other evidence he was ever there. Sexual cannibalism has fascinated biologists ever since Darwin.

No, seriously. That song alone has actually spurred a series of surprisingly lucid and vivid dreams that I've had. Seeing as it takes me ~30 mins to doze off into sleep, I've timed this song to start about an hour after I actually fall asleep, triggering this extremely high-state of conscious dreaming.

What I dream can explain why I like this song so much:

I picture myself in Samus' suit, in a First Person perspective. I look out through my visor and see myself amidst an abandoned power plant. Ridged pipes, rusted railing, and dented catwalks make up several series of buildings, each placed in a disorderly fashion. There are two moons that give a unique sepia tone to the metal, but light up the crumbling concrete ground as a pale blue. Moonlight glistens off of power wires, which, surprisingly, are very neat and orderly.

So, yeah. This mix is justifiably awesome. End of story. Period.

I'm listening to a playlist full of Jonas Brother Music; such has Poor Unfortunate souls, Mandy, S.O.S, Don't Tell Anyone, etc. Lately I've been pretty much obsessing over them and their music, especially since the dream I had last night, which was great I had some chipmunk songs playing earlier, but then all of a sudden I got struck by a Jonas Brother obsession; and hence all the music from them. Their music makes me feel weird, like kind of nostalgic, like the old episodes of Pokémon or something.
