Peter Framtpon's Fingerprints
Its just so damn refreshing to hear his classic skillful playing. I feel all is right in the world when I listen to this. And of course his Black Hole Sun cover is to die for. Thom Yorke's The Eraser A self-fulfilling prophecy of endless possibility You roll in reams across the street In algebra, in algebra The fences that you cannot climb The sentences that do not rhyme In all that you can ever change The one you're looking for It gets you down It gets you down There's no spark No light in the dark It gets you down It gets you down You traveled far What have you found That there's no time here's no time To analyse To think things through To make sense Like cows in the city, they never looked so pretty By power carts and blackouts Sleeping like babies It gets you down It gets you down You're just playing a part You're just playing a part You're playing a part Playing a part And there's no time There's no time To analyse Analyse Analyse |

Tchiakovsky's Overture 1812.
For whatever reason, I have this song on my computer. It's not like I hadn't heard it before, but I never really listened to it before. And let me just say this: it's ballin. I kind of want to do a mashup; We Fly High (1812) type deal. Now that would be bling blat. |

Artist: The Ditty Bops
Song: Sister Kate [= The Ditty Bops are a very strange band. They remind me of the Andrews sisters, with a more modern 50's-60's spin. Great harmonies. Good solid upbeat songs. This song particularly makes me want to get up and dance around the whole road. They don't oversing their song as many artists do, but their voices blend perfectly with one another creating a simple clean sound. It's amazing.... I recommend them very highly. |

Shadic: Post APPRECIATED, but I have a totally different idea of top songs on each album. On Is This It?, you forgot Hard to Explain. On Room on Fire, you forgot What Ever Happened?, and on First Impressions, you neglected You Only Live Once and Heart in a Cage.
Right now, I'm listening to the Strokes as well. Hard to Explain, on their first album Is This It? This song just makes me happy, there's no other way to explain it. The strokes have a sound that's hard to explain. At first you may find them annoying (as I did), but they definitely grew on me. Now they're pretty much the staple of my music every day. <3 the strokes |

Song: Laid to Rest
Artist: Lamb of God Album: Ashes of the Wake So I went to see Lamb of God on Wednesday, March 14th. It was insane. The pit was crazy during this song. People were getting knocked all over the place and I helped a few up as well as getting knocked down myself. The adrenaline was pumping at a crazy rate. I had been standing for four hours and before moshing my feet were killing me. When I entered the pit I didn't even feel the pain. Anyway the song really gets me going and "ready for anything." ____________________ |

Song: Turn On Me
Band: The Shins Album: Wincing the Night Away This is my favorite song from their new album. Everything from the catchy beat, brilliant lyrics, and the meaning behind the song... I love it. If you like either of the past Shins albums, this one will blow you away. The song is about a friendship/relationship that is going down the drain, for whatever reason. One of my favorite bits is the beginning, "You can fake it for a while, bite your tongue and smile like every mother does an ugly child." Hehe. |

Beck - E-Pro
I managed to miss the boat on this one. What a BA song. How was this song not used for like every car commercial ever? The Guero CD is decent, but I'm hoping that some of his other stuff is better than this. I like Go It Alone too, but I dunno, it feels not enough rock-ish for me. |

I am listening to jazz.fm, a really chill station that I dig. They've been doing a retrospective on Canadian jazz from the 50s. They're really focussing on the Montreal and Toronto scenes. I'm not too sure if there was much outside of those areas...However, I would imagine that there could have been very developed scenes in areas like Vancouver, Ottawa, and a few other cities (not to mention smaller towns off the beaten road). Who knows though? I'm not sure what is on right now, but the trumpeteer is really playing it like it means something. The drummer, though, is what is making this song. His shit is just flying in with the piano and bass, and just blowing itself away. Spectacular. A great arrangement. |

Artist: The Black Dahlia Murder
Songs: Funeral Thirst, I'm Charming No, I'm not listening to more than one song at once. Just decided it's not worth posting everytime something changes on my payer. Yes, I'm a metal guy. Love it to death and always will. One of the things that anger me the most, is when people disregard metal as "screaming" or "noise" when actually it has more melody and rhythmic complexities than any other genre of music. I mean, since when are you going to find a country song that has many complex riffs and constantly changing time signatures/note endurances. In return of these Nubish comments, I like to remind these people that they must not really enjoy music if they don't take the time to listen to it (since there is more to metal than screaming/growling). Artist: Lamb of God Songs: Laid to Rest, As the Palaces Burn Lamb of God, ftw. With my musical pet peaves out of the way, I can discuss this better. Lamb of God is very heavy indeed. The riffs/melodies in every song are a lot of times complex and amazing. I just get that kind of weird feeling that makes me go "wow" every time I hear something good. That's how passionate about music I am, I guess. Sometimes riffs can even be extremely simple but still sound awesome. If anyone's even interested, and also just for the record... Some other bands I listen to are: Meshuggah; Dimmu Borgir; Hate Eternal; Black Sabbath; Tvangeste; Symphony X; Finntroll; Cradle of Filth; Children of Bodom... wont list anymore as just listing in a post takes away from the informative side. But that's an idea of the kind of music I listen to. Ziff: I think Jazz has Metal beat in terms of musicality. Jazz is some amazing stuff to listen to. (Wynton Marsalis ) ____________________ |

Well, right now I'm listening to Rhianna's song "Umbrella", her new song featuring Jay-Z. It's my favourite Rhianna song so far, but it gets played to death around here, and it's only been less than a month since it came out

I blame the lack of posting on my not np: Gang of Four: "I Love A Man in Uniform" Specifically, the Return the Gift version, which is miles ahead of the original. Mostly because it doesn't sound nearly as dated. It's a little odd when you remember that the backing vocals during the chorus were sung by women (it's the title), but, hey, that's actually part of why it doesn't sound so early-80's. This version's just live instruments with only a whiff of synth. Much more refreshing, although it could be that it sounds (if this makes sense) cold in a different way. Instead of white-boy disco, this version sounds a lot more live. Probably because the drums don't sound like hot buttered ass. (Fun fact: Their name doesn't refer to the Maoist Gang of Four, but the four main Structuralist theorists. WHO KNEW?) |

Artist:Wintersun
Album: Wintersun (2004) Currently running, "Battle Against The Time" Simply excellent. Melodic death metal, inspired with folk elements. Usually I don't like these folk metal bands at all, but in this case it isn't too distracting or I have trouble isolating the folk elements while enjoying these terrific tracks. The vocalist does a great job, the drummer is about to kill his working material (in Winter Madness, Starchild and Battle Against The Time) with a pretty high speed, while being intense. Overall not bad at all: Suitable for headbanging. |

Artist: 403
Song: Northern Lights Past-paced and up-beat, this is one of the best Japanese metal songs I've ever heard. It almost sounds like battle music from Final Fantasy. They shred the guitar at the right pace and then fill in some gothic piano music later on in the song. Their songs are available online and I heard of this band from this flash animation, 'NightmareCity:Catastrophie'. It's awesome and I recommend people to view the flash and listen. |

np: P.M. Dawn: "Set Adrift On Memory Bliss"
The single greatest song that will ever sample Spandau Ballet. There is no more discussion on this topic. Took me way too long to realize the drums were actually from Eric B. and Rakim's "Paid In Full", which is just a combination you don't see. This was probably their commercial high point, probably because people couldn't recognize two rapper/producers as unabashed hippies. The song's about how things in your life end up fading in importance, consequently getting pushed back in your mind with other things you haven't cared about. Deeper than most, lyrically, even taking into mind that this was 1991. HOORAY, |

Artist: Breaking Benjamin
Song(s): Here We Are, Breath Two of the best, in my opinion, songs on the album. Lately lyrics have been hitting me like hammers over the head with meanings, answering questions to everything, and helping me out in general. These are the most powerful songs in my playist lately. Song: Canon in D Major Best piano song ever. Wow, it hits me in a way no song has ever done before. I want to learn it, but there's no arrangements that hit me as much as one I found on Youtube, but there's no sheet music Albums: Artist: Breaking Benjamin Album: Phobia Been listening to this album almost nonstop for the past couple months. It's great because it's metal without the screaming I hate the metal bands where I can't discern lyrics because they're running their throats raw... ____________________ D: Can't think of anything original.... |
