Artist: Breaking Benjamin
Song: Believe

The guitar starts out all muted and silent, then kicks in after about 8 seconds. The tune has a nice balance to it, not too gritty or soft. I think this would go great in an intrusion scene in a movie. "Don't tread the water, just stay still... I won't be bothered, by you until... I'm picking sides, and pulling the strings... I'm living lies, and shedding the skin. I'm open wide, and letting you in... I'm running right, BE-LIEVE!!! I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU WANT... I JUST WANT MY..."

Some songs by Zephyris 4. Current song is Metaphor.

I know, you haven't heard of him yet. I'm not sure how I would describe his style, but it reminds me of Yanni sometimes... He plays songs over a range of genres, though.

Anyway. There will probably be a website or something soon.

Yeah, I know the guy. I'd love the music with or without that, though

The air conditioner, that's been running nonstop since we entered (the thermostats here are always broken ).

It's just interesting, because no one else is in this classroom, it's cold enough to be chilly without being freezing, and it's really weird... It just gives this odd feeling since there's a constant blowing sound. And then there's the occasional beep of a computer, which is enough to give me a little bit of a jump when it comes up, since it's unexpected and always weird The classroom itself is mostly soundproof too (at least, from most things) so I can't hear anyone outside at all...

I'm listening to the album Up The Bracket by the Libertines. I always found it a very interesting and enjoyable album. I started listening to them wholesale last year when I first moved into res and Pete Doherty drugged up some passed out girl. This album, however, features a gamut of sounds. The relatively subdued sounds of the opening track of "Vertigo" which really tosses back to an age of the early 60s experimentalish rock. You can really hear some boyband undertones. The next tune "Death on the Stairs" is probably my favourite song off the album. I find it an awesome and eclectic song with highly abstract lyrics and a surreal sounding atmosphere. I just love the full album. Mind you, I left something in Moscow.

Listening to a song by Mortiis: "(Passing By) An Old and Raped Village"
I love Mortiis. At least, all the older stuff. His newer, crazy techno-metal sucks so bad. But the CD in which this song is on (The Stargate) is a beautiful cacophony of glorious symphonic battle music. Not even metal; it's just symphonic music. violins, trumpets, horns, all that jazz, coupled with lovely female vocals. This song in particular is beautifully morose with sad, compelling lyrics describing a village in the aftermath of a great battle: "A village old, pillaged and raped. All its houses are rotten or burnt. Here are signs of battles of old. Raided for the virgins and their gold..."
It's just awe-inspiring.

Artist: The Streets
Album: Original Pirate Material
Song: Let's Push Things Forward

One of my favorite songs from the album. Original Pirate Material is a british hip-hip album and it doesn't sound bad at all (Not like what i expected years ago when i first got it). The sounds and beats are very good but the thing that stands out for me is the rapping. Just the word he uses and his voice. If you are into hip-hop this album is worth checking out.

British hip-hip

The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living, his latest, was ranked in the top 15 for Spin's best of 06. I'm not sure I agree with that, but it's still an amusing record, if nothing else.

I like that sound. The sound of a fan makes me "high".

It's very relaxing.

I overlooked that typo.

Concerning The Streets, I haven't heard his other albums. I might check them out this weekend or might not.

Livin For You by Boston.

Boston makes really good music. I am quite suprised how high their voices get in the early songs O_o... The newer songs are always calmer, it seems, and i dont really like them as much. None the less, they are good songs.

Hurt by Nine Inch Nails, from the album The Downward Spiral.

I am finding myself listening to more Nine Inch Nails lately. Do I like it.... or do I like it because my partner likes it and it reminds me of him?

I think a little of both.

Kanye West - Through the Wire

Now, I loved the album College Dropout. It was pretty much as pure gold as you can get when it comes to music of a highly commercial nature. But god damned. This song is definitely one of my favs from the album. It is a simple, but fun listen. It has some really cool lyrics and the sampling is sweet.

Just got the old Mars Volta cd, and giving it a listen through.

Alright to good I guess so far. Some tracks just don't tickle my fancy.

Sepultura - Biotech is Godzilla
I don't know why I love this song; it's so retard. But it's hardcore metal retarded. Which is why I probably love it.
Sepultura in general, rocks.

Jeff Buckley -- Hallelujah from the 1998 album Grace

I am aware the song is a cover, but it is one of the best versions, if not the best version of Hallelujah I've ever heard. Jeff's voice is beautiful over very simple acoustic guitar backup.

I was never one of those people that was a raving Jeff Buckley fangirl, but I will admit his voice is gorgeous, and Hallelujah in particular is beautiful.

Song: Tell Me Why
Artist: Cold
Album: A Different Kind of Pain

I was browsing the Cold site and read the backstory on how the song was written about a girl who was abused by her father and her mother was always gone and a drunk and stuff....

It reminded me how my mom's a nutcase and rekindled the toughts of all the evil things she did in the past.

The song really reaches out.

Artist: Elliott Smith
Album: Soundtrack from Good Will Hunting
Song: Miss Misery

I adore Elliott Smith as a musician. His songs are all so easy to relate to, on one level or another, and the beautiful blend of piano, guitar, and easy drumming makes them extremely relaxing to listen to. I especially love the style in which he sings... it's almost like a whisper, but it is extremely powerful.

I have all of his albums, and I love them all, but this song I just recently discovered because it's not on any of his albums. I've listened to it like crack since I got it... it's a great song.

My favorite part of it is the ambiguous style of the chorus. "Do you miss me, miss misery, like you say you do?" It can have two takes on it: Is he asking Miss Misery she misses him, or is he referring to himself as misery? I absolutely love the fact that it can be either interpretation and still make perfect sense.
