Kay so, you gotta write more than LINKIN PARK LOL I LOVE THIS MASHUP CD.

I've been listening to Read Music / Speak Spanish, the only cd by the band Desaparecidos. You might know the lead singer, Connor Oberst aka Bright Eyes.

Anyways, the whole cd is just a commentary on the social status of America. How we need to buy the new clothes, new fashions, cut down trees for parking lots and such. Really good stuff.

If you're a fan of the Dead Kennedys, get this cd.

Artist: Rilo Kiley
Album: More Adventurous
Song: I Never

I am loving this band at the moment. I was interested in them ever since I found out that Jenny Lewis, lead singer, did some vocals for the The Postal Service - Give up album. I'm a sucker for soothing female vocals and this band, especially this song, really hits the spot.

It is romantic-esque and the way it is sung reminds me of the pop style of the old times. What old times? I don't know the specific decade, but it has a slight old-fashion taste to it. It's a really lovely song.

Someone had better fix the forum.

Anyways, I like a lot of technoish stuff. To be honest, I have a bit of everything on my list. Country, rock, IDM, speedcore, classic, hell, even a rap song (though as a genre it's basically unbearable). I'm particularily in to mainly electronic right now. A few tracks from IIDX are what I listen to the most.

I'm currently listening to DJ Sharpnel's Hyper Highspeed Star. Its an interesting song that I liked from StepMania, although the version I have for it is Exciting Hyper Highspeed Star, not this one. Its slower, I think, and isn't as heavy, but it is a nice song to listen to if you like Sharpnel stuff.

Many different things in my case, classical music like Orff, Tchaikovsky for example, but also chiptunes (preffered soundchip: atari st's pokey).

Not to forget metal, mostly death- and speed-metal like Anaal Nathrakh for example, but sometimes also doom/stoner metal bands.

Then there's also progressive rock, gabber, folk, and much more. Guess i have a rather eclectic musical taste.

lol sharpnel

Sorry, but as a long time SM player, I've learned to view Sharpnel as a thing of comedy.

I'm listening almost only to stuff like video game music, or remixes.. or, rather, I dislike almost every song including lyrics. I have no idea why, but I just don't like singing.

There are a few exceptions, though. For example, I like the vocal songs in the WarioWare series, especially Tomorrow Hill from WW: Smooth Moves.

Also, I can't specify what "music genres" I like.. I like some orchestral stuff, I like some rock stuff, I like chiptune stuff, and so on.. I just happen to dislike vocal songs a lot.

A few examples of soundtracks I really like listening to (lately) are: (in no particular order)

Phoenix Wright DS
Phantasy Star Online
Kirby: Squeak Squad
Tales of Symphonia
Sonic the Hedgehog (the Sega Genesis one)
Sonic 2 (see above)

Though.. usually, my favorites changes every two weeks or so. Then, I like completely other things.

See, I can't stand video game music. If I wanna hear it, I'll play the games. I'm not going to upload music from my games onto my iPod or whatever so I feel like a royal loser whenever someone wants to take a listen, no offense.

I listen to real music.
Dimmu Borgir - Allegiance

Norwegian, straight up, pure black metal.
Opens with eerie, dark ambiance, then guitar chords. Someone says "The cult of Armageddon", and with that, Shagrath spills his guts out upon the microphone and all hell breaks loose. Violins make a perfect compliment to the heavy guitars and fast drums, and the vocals are amazing.

Clockworkz, I know you don't like video game music, but you should give The Magical Trick Society a shot -- they do remixes of certain games, but they don't just pump them out wantonly.

It's what I've been listening to, lately -- Xk pointed me to their remix of the Phoenix Wright soundtrack, and I can't get enough of certain songs on there.

Aside from that, I've also (thanks to Guitar Hero) rekindled my love affair with Guns and Roses, which I remember is one of my favorite bands ever. Can't remember if they were one of the jillion bands to cover The Rolling Stones, though. I know they covered Sympathy for the Devil (like everyone else out there), but I've been looking to see if they did Jumping Jack Flash, as well.

And whoa, Crocodile Rock.

And Clock, one more thing -- Everybody listens to Dragonforce.

Band: The Strokes
Album: Is This It?
Song: Hard To Explain

This song is one of the first I'd ever heard from this band, and I was totally and completely addicted to it. I immediately got the album, listened to it like crack, etc. That was years ago, and I still love this band two albums later. But this song is always one that I enjoy simply because it's not only catchy, but it just makes a lot of sense to me. It's hard to explain.

Jessica by the Allman Brothers Band.

Very nice song. Like all the guitar and piano solos all the way through. Long song too so you can enjoy it for a nice long time.

Don't like the length when trying to play it in Guitar Hero II but don't mind listening to it.

Clockworkz: THANK YOU. I don't get how people can listen to video game music non-stop. Sure, there's some games with good scores (hay s^ anything in the Katamari Damacy series?) but, like, NSF's don't cut it.

Toxic: Wouldn't think to make the Desaparacidos/DK's connection. Lyrically, yeah, they do pretty much mine the same territory. COMPLETELY different, sound-wise, though. Nice point.

np: Sevendust: "Black"
Went out to a bar, someone put one of their songs on, reminded me how I like the song. For some reason, the guitar riff in the chorus reminds me of Eric Clapton's (yeah, yeah, all you want) "Run". They probably have the same chord change. Whatevar. Lyrically, it should be fairly obvious... it's all about Lajon Witherspoon's experiences with racism as a black guy singing in a hard rock band. And presumably elsewhere, considering the chorus: "I'm mindin' my own business/I ain't doin' nothin' wrong." The tremolo'ed guitar part that starts at the beginning (ya know, the choppy one) and runs through most of the song really helps out, as does the similarly-timed static through the choruses. Not very often you can pull it off in a song.

jay, don't get me wrong; Remxies are good, provided it's done well. Piano/violin arrangements are great, especially Dhsu's stuff.
Look him up on Google.

Yeah, I'm not here to rag on cover versions. Especially considering I downloaded both of The Advantage's albums.

Only by Nine Inch Nails. I think it is from the album With Teeth.

I never really got into NIN before, but I've been listening to a little more lately. Quite interesting stuff to listen to.

If I keep this up, I may yet become a fan?

Currently on Media Player: Streets of Philadelphia by Bruce Springsteen.

Not that The Boss is my all time favorite, or even the song, but he's got good music.

Recently, though, I've listened to more Kansas and Rush than anything. Mix in some Tesla for pure goodness.

I try to stay away from some of the more popular recent stuff. 95% of the stuff sounds like utter crap to me.

Elgar Cello Concerto in E minor, played by Jacqueline du Pré. To me, it represents the struggle of the human soul in the face of an eminent demise. I'm going to listen to Yo-yo Ma's solo of it tomorrow, but I'm sleepy and my teeth hurt.

I would even argue that they're similar in sound as well. They both have a very gritty, and raw sound, although Jello's voice/Connor's voice are miles apart

Love that song, Tarale! My friend is a Guitar Hero champ, and he can play the thing flawlessly on hard, and pretty perfect on expert.

Song: Warning Sign

I simply adore coldplay. Been a fan ever since Parachutes came out. I enjoy this album but the first few years since I got it I really didn't pay much attention to this song. It was only after a long hiatus from listening to them and Danielle mentioning this song did I start up again. I have much love for this song now. Just the piano, the vocals, but what hits it home are the lyrics. Danielle knows what I'm talking about . <3

I'm not really listening to anything right now. I'm not really one for music. Excluding a few game tunes (<3 Tetrisphere), I rarely listen to music. I however do like playing music games because it's pretty fun (fillerlol)
