Hello guys, I just want to present my version of super mario rpg hack. I call it Super Mario RPG Expansion. It's still in it's early stages.

Now about the hack:

-It is based on Waddler-D's True Remix hack. Thus, you can also expect it to have up to level 50. However, all the spell learn, character level up stats, and stat bonuses have been tweaked. The only system preserved is the Next level timing. (Note that I am not trying to compete with Waddler-D. As a matter of fact, Waddler gets the credit from this since this is based on his hack)

-The level up system is now character specific. Mario has been designed to be versatile, thus his stats can be expected to be good on all sides, but his real strength is in Power. Mallow is terrible in terms of physical defense, he compensates this weakness with his powerful spells (2nd to Geno), a very high HP, and a strong magic def. Geno is similar to the original SMRPG, he's still average in power. But he has been tweaked to be the most powerful spellcaster. His magic defense is second only to mallow though. Bowser, being the brute of the team is the strongest member there is.. he's only weakness is magic. Finally, Toadstool (Peach) is the weakest character in the game. She's the best support you can get as her healing spells comes really handy.

-The spells have also been rebalanced. Some of it now cost a lot, for instance, Peach's Come back now costs 14fp. It would be unfair to Smithy's gang if she can keep on resurrecting her buddies right? Well, not anymore! Jump and some spells have the tendency to miss also. This will really try your patience, most especially when you're trying to get the Super Suit (now Super Shirt).

The hack has progressed once again. It's now 10% complete. Did you guys saw these scenes from Kero Sewers? Nope, I guess not..

There is now a Frogog guards the entrance to the sewers. Careful, they are not the same as the Frogogs you've fought it the original Super Mario RPG.

The next scene shows 2 Ameboids that marches on one of the sewer's hallways. In the original, you could only fight them in Smithy's Factory. Now, you can fight them earlier. They are perfect fit for a dirty sewer.

The Ameboids still possess the durability, the poison attack (Viro Plasm), and the ability to replicate. These naughties give up Slime once you beat them.

That's just an eye opener, of course, you'll find more surprises as you explore the level. Til next time..

Just as a little protip, JPEG images are horrible for anything that isn't a photograph. Try to save screenshots as PNG files.

jpg files were used back in the day to prevent graphics rips. I doubt that's the real reason they've been put to work here, though. Grey Mario's right, use .png's if you can, except for very large images. MS Paint has native support for the PNG format.

As far as the hack goes, I'd put it onto a cart if I could. I actually have a list of hacks to put on carts and this is at the top of the SNES list.

I use jpg because I can save it in a reduced file size. Around 60-50% of the original quality.

Thanks for the tip though, I will use pngs in the future.

As for the hack, I'll submit it on this forum as soon as I can get it done. It's not actually a TC, it's just a modified or rather expanded version of the original. I have also included Giangurgolo's magic items in the hack so expect Mario to jump real high.

As for the challenge.. it is moderately to extremely hard game. To re-balance I even have to add a new armor for the Land's End level, otherwise, even I couldn't beat it. You'll oftentimes run out of FP healing your allies rather than use them against the enemies.

Alas, I have sad news guys.. due to lack of Event Scripts space.. I'm afraid I have no choice but to cancel the hidden levels.. There are 2 of em. These levels were supposed to contain the shoe that can make Mario jump real high, the shoe that can make him run fast, and a mysterious cap that makes him impervious to lava and enemy attacks. Sigh, I even finished the new enemies for the forest.. Maneater, Mellipede, and Stinkhorn.

Hopefully, they will be included in the new Super Mario RPG TC (Total Conversion) plan. This TC should contain Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Gabriel (Geno in White). The Star Piece story will be rewritten, and Bowser will be the enemy backed up by a mysterious powerful Sorcerer. Pricess Toadstool needs rescuing this time.

By the way, I am looking for map makers. If there are people who knows SMRPG map editing, pls. contact me.. let's make a new SMRPG game.

Hello guys, the TC is currently my main agenda, I guess SMRPG Expansion may have to wait. I could release the beta version this week, but it still contains lots of bugs, so I may have to withhold it until a few more weeks.
