A ROM has been dumped called Angry Birds 2 (a you tube user calls it that) but we'll call it Angry Birds - Moai Kun hack. It's a typical graphics hack that's been half assed done with palettes just like Mario Kun. Moai Senpai can open this ROM so here's what I did...

I didn't do the title screen, I'm just showing it off cause it look cool for the NES.



This game starts on level 2 for some reason, dunno why...

What do you think, should I work on this? My SMB3 hack & my MM1 hack has me stuck at the moment.

If your good with paletting editing and game gfx modding which is pretty obvious I would try to aim at super mario bros 2 and 3.
Why smb2 doesn't get enough attention for hacking I dont know, but it has alot of potential to expand.
If there was level editor for smb2 I would try to attempt that as my first NES hack.

You remind me of ghettoyouth in many ways, yor work sort of remsembles what he used to do back in 2005-2007.

smb2 does have a level editor. (It's on Romhacking.net) Problem is that the level data is a cluster fuck pain to work with. (I have tried, I was working on a SMB2 hack a while back.)

Another problem is that the level data is not documented very well, therefore, making some changes are impossible without further study on the ROM. That being said, there is quite a bit of info on the data crystal to make most changes one would want too do.

If one want to edit SMB2, I would actually recommend using the SMAS editor that is in the works. Not sure how much SMB2 support it has, but it is at least still being worked on!

My SMB3 hack Time Flies, has as much graphic changes as much as I can cram into that hack.

That icegoom is one heck of a guy, its too bad he just up and disappeared in 08.
I never knew how many people he was in contact with all over the place.

Pm later on about smb2 hacking and what you have learneed from it, even though luna has worn me about smb2, I still feel like the original needed some action for a change after 25 years.

After 5 years on ice, Mega Man In St. Canard is in progress. I'm working on Bombman's level (Mega Volt's level) so far so good with the level scrolling. I hope to get better with the later levels.

This is some of what i have been working on in my Bionic Commando editor. (click images to see..)
If i finish this, hackers will be able to change the game map entirely.



Im also improving the Data Management mode in the editor, so maybe it will be fully functional for the next version.

Working on a Rockman 1 hack from scratch. Mega Girl AFS is no longer to be a finished project. I already inserted the best possible ripped Rockman 2 hacks music in there since I cannot compose my own music.

The codings and Yellow Devil GFX and AI will be transferred.

This is a small preview of 4 levels from my upcoming Mega Man 4 hack: Mega Man Voyage.



After hacking Mega Man 3 twice in a row, I decided to start on a Mega Man 4 hack, mainly because it's my favourite game in the series after 3, but also because it's so well-documented by matrixz, infidelity and others. This time, I decided to change more than just the levels; I put in some graphics from Mega Man 10 and various NES games, and I also did some small changes to some enemies and other stuff, like the charge shot. All the music you can hear is composed and written by me as well (unlike last time, I'm going to change every single song, and all of them will be original).

This hack is still in its early stages, but hopefully you'll get the idea.

Cool! Well, I'd love to, but unfortunately I have close to zero ASM knowledge, and I don't have the patience to learn so much that I can make my own, custom stuff, at least not for the moment. I'm doing what I can to make the hack as different from the original game as possible though, and with some creativity it was easy to make those conveyor belts out of Toad Man's waterfall data, for example.

I do use FCEUX's code/data logger a lot; I used that to change the jumping patterns of the big guy in the beginning of the video, for example. It took me an hour or two with trial and error just to find the right parameters to change though.

I'm also going to try to put in the Quick Man lasers from Mega Man 2 with the help of a document matrixz made, but there are still a few values in the AI code I didn't understand yet, so we'll see how that goes. Heck, I'd rather pay someone to do it for me, but I guess that's not how it goes. As for the sound, graphics animation and finding the right place in the ROM to put it, that's no problem though.

I recently submitted some Rockman / Mega Man 4 patches into Romhacking dot net! Are you going to use them!

Source code provided means you have to open the .ASM file using either MS word or as .txt document.

Try consider using some of those patches, which were originally made by rock5easily. They will enhance your mm4 hack quite a bit some more. If any of them intrest you.

I think it's safe to apply to megaman 4...but im not 100% sure.
Insect will know though.

Oh cool! I thought those patches were lost when Rock5easily and his website mysteriously disappeared, but apparently it's back online now. I already used the fast scrolling patch (and modified it a bit for vertical scrolling), but I'll check out the other ones. Thanks, both of you!

The truth was discussed on the rockman remodelling 2ch thread, a few weeks ago.

We all just learned that the reason rock5easily's site got taken down sometime in 2009 or somewhere around there, was because Capcom found about how easily made megaman 9 levels on a mm 4 hack..
1 month before Megaman 9 was officially released by capcom.

Rock5easily has never been seen or heard from ever again since...

Either he became a Capcom Employee or he is sitting in jail. I believe it is the first with some limitations, such as to not to join the hacker scene again.
Perhaps he is in 2ch active under a new alias.

Edit: I hope that PureSabe won't suffer the same fate.

MegaGirl Another Fight Story officially discontinued for good! It will be best as a PC engine than a NES game.

Wily 4 WIP. Enemies will be added after all levels are made including their checkpoints. For now, all level designs first before everything else.
