I've put on ice my other WIP editors, to fiddle once again with my Zelda II editor. Still got some improvement, apparently. I set the tool to force a new group to be created before the 16 tiles limit. So graphically speaking, it's a little red bar that is meant to separate two horizontal strips of the same type and tell the game that a new group (byte) must be created...
If you stick to the normal game engine, this is useful for one thing: moving the spot for the 6th Palace. Another out-of-the-norm function would be to pad the number of bytes to the original one (for example, 0x321 bytes for West Hyrule), in order to avoid any possible glitch with having more or less rows in one of your Overworld maps. I'm also planning to use the "new group" tool (I call it the "bracket" tool) to make various changes to the Overworld, triggered by speaking to certain Townfolks or getting a specific item, etc... |

Damn, I may have to actually play a hack, judging from these graphics at least.
These are beautiful, if nothing else, keep giving us these great screens. |

I always liked the idea of Link being in a modernish setting, so that hack is defiantly picking up my interest.
And glad someone is handling Kirby Adventure! Isn't that game using some kind of compression for it's level data? ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Posted by Trax Kirby games have always used really oddball compression formats from what I recall, making them rather difficult to figure out and edit. |
