Is it easy to edit/expand stages?
If so, your hack may be a superior base for other CV hacks than any of the existing CV games.

It is relatively easy, I re-wrote the level assembly so each screen follows a single line of code called the "level property bar". This line of code contains info regarding level gfx bank #, enemy gfx bank #, enemy attributes bank #, music selection day, music selection night, palette # day, palette # night, and what the next screen is depending on if you travel up, down, left, or right.

Holy crap, dude! You're making it into the perfect base for any CV hack!
I can't wait to try out the next demo.

I decided to showcase some designs that are possible to do with Reuben that are impossible otherwise. Here is my video, but this is just for dahrkdaiz's project more than it is for mine. Yes I do have really tricky gimmicks, but you may know from playing my first 2 hacks that it's the norm for me.

"Unfortunately, this is not a crossover between Castlevania and Metroid... but it so should be."

Not a rom hack.

Nice. Looking forward to seeing what you do. You made all of those sprites yourself? They're really good.

Well right now they only have working titles. In order they are Marine Man, Metool Man, ROM Man, and Atom Man.

Dr. Hell: Very nice. However, I think the mugshots for Metool Man and ROM Man seem a bit off... I'm loving Marine and Atom Man though.

Still truckin'.

Incidentally, if anybody feels like submitting a program icon, that'd be appreciated.

Hello, folks. Despite myself just becoming a new member today, I am here to share my work with you all. I have a SMB1 hack currently in progress. It is named Koopa Castle. Right now, I am further modifying it to make it stand out much more. But I would like the share some demo videos:

Room 1

Room 2

Room 3

Room 4 (Final room)

Indeed appreciated, but it doesn't exactly imply it's a map editor, does it?

I started modification after releasing the demo shown in the videos. I used the FCEUX emulator to make the gameplay video, but I used SMBUtility to edit the level maps. I wanted this hack to look better.

It's nice to see you put some work into getting Mario's TSA just right. I've done that before, and that takes some work to get it just right. Good work. I also like to see visually pleasing hacks with a decent amount of good level design. Two things I don't really like about it though are somewhat easy to fix... I'd recommend editing the koopa graphics to something like an injured boo or something. Another is the insanely repetitive and annoying castle music. You could use the underground music for the first three rooms and the last room be castle music. Also, I'm sure there's an easy way to get rid of the bug involved with climbing vines... Someone here might be knowledgeable in helping you with that.

All in all, good work with this hack. This might be one of those SMB1 hacks I might end up playing.

Could just make ordinary cheep cheep into boos, the have pretty much the same moving pattern.

That's exactly what he did. But cheep-cheeps work a bit differently when they're out of water. Or rather, Mario works with them differently when no water is present. They become stompable. So, without going into some pretty serious ASM, the next best thing is to adapt available sprites' graphics to the situation, much like he did with Lakitu and the cheep-cheeps themselves. Awesome creativity by the way.

Good idea because the snowy palette for underground levels can use the castle palette and I wanted to replace the music for both level types as well.
