First off before my interactions of this hack.

- I'm not a profressional Mega man hacker (I never say I was). I only experienced.
- The ASM Coding in Mega Man 1 is a bit messy and has different formatting.
- I suck at being a pixel artist.

Anyway, I decided to host this 2 level beta Mega Man 1 hack to the public (Entire World) for a reason because I'm not working with it anymore. That does not mean that you can take over my project or even finishing my hack for me. The reason why I stopped with my Mega Man 1 hack because I'm working on a long-term Mega Man 4 project from scratch and something more of an idea. And I will start with it immediately. I have some ideas in my head.

I'm not giving up on MegaGirl. I will get back to it when ready.

Yea, Yea, Yea. I already did finished with Mega Man Showdown 4 and people are enjoying it. That's just the beginning. Now I should work on all levels, add new ASM, add sound initals for each enemy or boss and more for my new Mega Man 4 hack.

Mega Man 1's ASM coding is extremely hard to work with especailly the weapons AI. I'm still stuck with it. The weapon AI is divided into 3 sections. In order words, I don't know most of the memory addresses to recogonize in Mega Man 1.

These sprites aren't very good either. I very suck at pixel drawings and I needed help with it. That's when the MegaMari (Rockman 1 hack) comes in. I was hoping someone will do a Marisa Megaman hack but Touhou music is missing. MegaMari WAS my original idea, so I chose MegaGirl instead because of GreenNinja's work. I'm glad someone made it too.

As I said, I needed help with the female robot (NOT Protogirl, Patchouli and Cirno) drawings because I suck. Unless you're okay with it. I spent 1 month trying to pixelize every sprite. The only sprite drawing that is stolen is Cirno. I have to use someone's Cirno and put it as my own but Patchouli remains as my own because I have her death sprite ready to initalize. And Megagirl's sprite is created by Blueboy and some outlines of her hairstyle of MegaGirl is by me. You can get the original patch from Zophar's Domain or download it from ANY rom site.

Too many things actually stopping me from finshing this hack. I actually

- Play Touhou Games and Touhoumon
- Employed for work
- Working on another project
- Most likely play another ROM-Hack
- Most likely to do run through or speed run movies for any game
- Computer Problems

And just to be honest, I thought I can complete it within this year but I didn't. It should be next year.

Now about this hack. 2 levels are NOT my offical levels but parts of Cirno's level is. Some screens of Cirno's level is missing until the final version of my hack. Right now the beta version is NOT my final version. And Bombgirl's stage final version should be the forest level with different enemies and the scroll layouts remain unchanged until the final version that don't overwrite another level for the current beta version. Also in the beta version is some AI's changed for bosses.

I haven't started with Custom music either. I know what music I needed or even found the music data but making the music can be TOO HARD for me to do. I need certain tools that can make music in NSF format before putting the data in the music data rom offset. My hack should have "Hana Yori Dango Another Love Story" Music too.

The final version when is done should include

- Weapons AI modified
- Suika's AI similiar to Mega Man 3's Yellow Devil
- Cirno's level with all missing screens inserted
- Bombgirl's Forest level
- Custom Music
- Select Button uses Weapon Select
- All levels modified
- Modify newly ASM stuff
- A possible MMC3 mapper or Expansion.

I'm not too sure about porting this one to MMC3 with expansion for the final version. It may cause some emulators to not run them like VirtuaNES or even Nester J. I can easily do this with Disch's MM1 document.

These 2 files aren't the same with different uploaders. And if you're downloading the IPS file from my site, it comes with Image Touhou and MegaGirl files for people to look at or to redrawn them from scratch. Both uploaders comes with Emulator Save States so you can screw around with the Wily levels for see more of my ASM Stuff.

Enjoy! Just make sure you apply it with Mega Man (U) ROM, not Rockman 1. And sorry for the long reading. MegaGirl has been a inspiration to me since Maria Sisters SMW Hack and IKA's Rockman No Constancy which started me to do Mega Man hacking.

You may use the graphics and levels for your own personal use but NOT my ASM stuff. Do these on your own. Redistributions are also OK.

Haven't played it yet, but right off the bat I have a suggestion: get rid of the lame-looking, ultra-compressed "girl" at the end of the robot masters' names. Either hack however the text is displayed so you have more room, use much shorter names, or use something that will actually fit, like "Guts Gal," "Cut Gal," etc.

Just sayin'...

It may be possible but unfortunely, the text uses a 7 letter limit for each name. Sometime in the future whenever I decide to do this, I will figure how to expand the text for more room at the boss selection screen without overwritten another text.

OR I'll just stick with gal. That's a good reference.

And btw, I was kinda uninspired today so I remade the Megagirl picture for the title screen after reading PSlugworth's comments. I took the liberty to alter the title to try it out. I will not use this myself, so what do you think Insectduel? If you like it, I'll mail it to you.

Absoultely. Mail it to me so I can use it. Please remove "Wrigglenightbug" in my mailing address.I very suck at putting some of Nilkla's images to 4bpp using ifrnaview and have to open up YY-CHR with the bitmap file. That's a decent amount of work. And thank you for doing this.

Some people say that my MegaGirl sprite is skinny (Or even suck) and I didn't even quite drew it myself as I borrowed it from Blueboy's GFX patch I downloaded from zophars. At least I have someone in my YouTube account since I posted it to do all six of the female masters.

I don't know about the pink armor palette unless is for the Magnet beam weapon since no artists actually have pink colors. Then again, the eye lashes would be a good idea though.

Zidanerfox, very nice work there!

I'd like to know why the face can't have it's own palette. Are all the BG palettes used up? Are you or Insectdual able to insert custom asm to allow the face to be setup as sprites?

Please let me know, cause most likely I could make that face a sprite, exploiting all the sprite palettes

Insectdual, if you have the image already inserted into your rom, and if you would like for me to see if i can do this, please resend me an updated .ips patch of your current work.

also, i need to know the routine in MM1 that allows you to select what gfx to appear in the ppu.

I already have the code up and running. all i need is the gfx of the new face, and the ppu routine. so let me know.

another thing, insetead of sending the .ips again, how about sending me the image of the face already resized for your rom? I looked in TLP and noticed that MM1 has a funky way of inserting the gfx of the face into the rom. Maybe take a desktop snapshot of your PPU in action???

EDIT = i found the routine used for the title screen ppu setup, $10D30. And, i have the pic ripped properly, working with it in YY-CHR now. My next post will be my result

That was a nice piece of work. And I never noticed that he already did this before I get to lend infidelity the ROM image. I guess he proberly asked Zidanerfox.

Anyway, I have 2 people on my list for their creditablity which I should NEVER forget.

Recently last night, I looked up the text table data and decided to work on it since PSlugworth and Googie disagree with compressed names.



Here's what I did

In Offset $1B622 I insert A008 (Number of letters in the stage select screen) and BD60FF to Change the load's FreeSpace offset Value. Then copy any number of Bytes from offset $1BF7F and paste it onto a freespace offset to load them. Mine is 56 bytes with 8 letters each.

Now for the intro boss select screen.
At offset $1BF6B to $1BF7E, you change the offset for each byte for low and high. First byte is low and second is high.

And finally, change the number of letters in offset $1B8B3.

I changed Firegirl to Firegal because the letters are CLOSE to each other. Which is not good and a bit confusing too. And Patchouli have multiple short-term names so Pachy is more better than Patcholy or Patchy.

BTW, I should consider insert Pachy from MegaMari 8bit Rockman 1 hack and try to draw her dropping from the wily ship.

I'm still pending for someone to give me the redrawn female masters which is IceGirl, GutsGirl, Bombgirl and FireGirl. ElecGirl is fine now. For future terms, like on Rockman ABNormality, I should reprogram Ice Man's AI back to it's normal AI and a possible 7th Boss instead of using Copy Robot which I'm using it for the last level.

Actualy what i did was copy the title screen photo Zidanerfox posted in this thread to my desktop, converted it to 256bmp in paint, used YY-CHR to insert it into your rom, then I began removing the face from the helmet. I just took your existing hack, and studied how the tiles were setup in it, and I was able to figure it out with ease.

Cirno and Pachy (Patchouli Knowledge) are the 2 Touhou characters that should be used in my own storyline. As the story goes, Patchouli came from Gensokyo and stole Wily's blueprints which Dr. Light have in his lab to create the pending 5 female robots, Pachy used the blueprints to create as her own army. Dr. Light already created IceGirl before all others.

And I have the following major bosses already made in the Wily levels which is Suika Ibuki you will face in Wily 1 and Tsukushi Makino from Hana Yori Dango in Wily 3. I will come up with a storyline about Tsukushi working for pachy later on.
