There's always the internet. Trade with someone, trade to platinum.

Coulda sworn I'd posted here...

Basically, let me just say, I don't like Pokemon much now. The new pokemon are unimaginative, it's the same shit being repeated every game, what's so awesome in this one to make me wanna get it? Why do you people say it's so great? Cause honestly, the only thing I wanna see out of them now are new Gold and Silver versions.

What's less imaginative about gen 4 than gen 2? Better plot, better mechanics, better pokemon design. Better overworld, too.

It's still having the "defeat X gyms, defeat a elite group" thing.

Of course, that's a trademark of the Pokémon series so...

I dunno if I agree there. Generation 2 is my favorite aswell. But better mechanics perhaps.

I love Gen 2. It was a bit short though.

How was it short? You mean how long it was around until Gen 3 came around, or how long the games were? Cause those games took a while to beat, having to beat 16 gyms and everything .

Also, Stark, gotta argue with you on some of what you said. Better plot? Same plot, get pokemon, study them for professor TREE by collecting them all. Defeat EVIL TEAM and beat all gyms, then win against the ELITE TEAM at the end, beating the champion, and becoming the best Pokemon trainer evah. Same thing, every game. Better overworld? Well, they both are pretty good, I'd say. 4's OW isn't better than 2's, and vice-versa. Better pokemon design? Not really. Sure, there's still some good ones, but it gets worse and worse down the generations. Now they've run out of pokemon to make xD! 2 legendary dragon pokemon? Did it in Gen 3. Sure, the dog god thing is kinda new, and he DOES look cool, but hey, the pokemon of Gen 2 look cool, too. Tyranitar, for instance, is my favorite Gen 2 pokemon :3.

Enough ranting. You still didn't say why I should get Platinum to replace my old Pearl.

If you don't play multiplayer pokemon, there's no true reason to get more than one of any version of any gen of pokemon, ever. With exception of getting one of RSE and one of FrLg in Gen 3 because they're actually "different" games. If you didn't already own pearl I'd say go buy Platinum first off, but there's no reason whatsoever to buy Platinum if you're finding Pearl as it is offering nothing new. Of course, my personal feeling is that the best approach is to buy one and then borrow/pirate the others for Pokemon.

I do actually agree, the art direction for most of the pokemon are on an average downhill slide, with far too many of the new pokemon looking like 1995 digimon rejects rather than crazy weird animals. That being said, a lot of the new pokemon do cool things in battle and are lots of fun to use.

I actually enjoyed Gen 2's story the best (I refuse give any of the pokemon games the credit of having a plot.) because it wasn't just all 'I am super-evil guy with a vision of a new world of crime/rocks/water/space' and it worked really well as a direct sequel to RBY, showing the changes over three years. Plus the traditional japanese theming everywhere gave the whole game a nice feel that the other games lack, although the Sevii Islands did it well.

As a sidenote, I am slowly grinding up my team to take the E4. I think an average team Level of 55 should cope fine as that is my goal, or at the very least far, far better than an average team level of 46. I'm currently at 50.

I might also throw in the PBR Electivire that I have. But as they all have the same nature, I'm going to go investigate the IVs compared to the one I downloaded to pearl and keep the good one to probably replace Ampharos on my ailing 2v2 team, which was in turn a 3rd gen 1v1 import team with slight tweaks.

I don't care what you say, Dragonite is still awesome.

The 8 gyms in Kanto hardly count, they were all a cake walk. I can honestly say that I can beat Gold version in a week. After all, you get to the elite four at like level 40.

I think it was short because the evil doods hardly did anything.

Hell, what they did do they tried before.

Still, G/S/C are my favorite, followed by Platinum. Platinum is better than Pearl and Diamond.

On an unrelated note, fucking legendary birds, get your asses back here. D:<
