511 parts are the maximum.

Okay, I'm new here. *waves*

So, I've made about 10 Fraxy bosses. None of them have events, and are therefore simple, but I am proud of them.

However, I've tried to make a boss, one with pretty simple events. My idea was to surround the main core with indestructible plates that become shadowed when the four main energy eggs (which I have found useful for bullet-hells) are destroyed. It's simple, easy and pretty straightforward, right?

It's basically like this:

Energy Egg events
[shrapnel event, of course. That part works fine]
If destroyed Plate 09's variable 1 +1 value (child parts, the other plates are included)

Plate events
If variable 1 ! 1, normal flag
If variable 1 = 1, shadow flag

So, when I finish with it, I select it the Fraxy game itself, and let'er rip (I'm Texan ). However, after I destroy a single energy egg, the main core somehow gets destroyed, and the boss is killed.

... The heck?

So, I made a smaller version with a single energy egg (added one for another event, mainly it activating as well when all are destroyed), and it still doesn't work.

I have no idea what's going on here, but I've uploaded my Fraxy boss to Megaupload. And I have no idea how to link on this forum, so I'll just give the raw URL: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=J9BH3Z8K So, can anyone fix my problem?

Please and thank yous all around.

First, I'll say this: use the board's uploader when possible (or even pastebin.com, since Fraxy .fed files are completely plaintext).

Next, the boss itself.
- Firstly, if you make a part and set its display to normal with the GUI (Part Info window -> Main tab ("show flag" -> "(0) normal")), you don't also need to set it via an event, it's already "normal".
- Next, with attack parts (such as the Energy Egg or the Vulcan parts etc), in the GUI (Part Info window -> Main tab), if you set "movement" to "(0) stop", it won't attack, so you don't need to make an event to start it off not attacking either.
- Lastly... well, the boss worked fine for me in both the editor and the game itself in version 20100103 (oops I forgot to update), and fine in the most recent version (editor) as well... but not in-game with it, which is very odd. I don't really see why this would happen. It must just be a bug with the latest version; hopefully Mon will fix it for the next release I guess?

Mirai,

I have made a functional emulation of what you were attempting to create. The boss has been uploaded to the site here: http://acmlm.kafuka.org/uploader/get.php?id=3298

Diagnosed problems:

1. In game, destruction of child parts damages the parent part. Thus, destroying the energy egg ID 5 caused the core to also be destroyed due to insufficient hp.

2. I don't know why, but the variables were not functioning in game for energy egg ID 4. During troubleshooting, I rerouted the commands through the main core to track the variables. Apparently it works now.

Happy days.

Ah, that works perfectly. D: I see now.

Thank you both.

Pretty much like you did just now, amirite? ;3

As for the glitchiness, I've heard a lot of people complain about it. Myself, I've never found any glitch (or I'm not aware of having found any)

Okay, this is worth a shot:

Hello! Hi. I am EthZee, I have been editing in Fraxy for about two weeks now. I have been using 20090204b up until yesterday, when I switched to the latest version (fraxy_20100822beta). Now, I realise this may be just a beta problem, but:

Why is it in the editor, parts refuse to line up properly when they're placed at equal distances? Here is a picture to illustrate:

Big picture, has been linked instead-

Both Plate_09s are slaved to the core, and both are at a distance of 25 units. Why, then, must everything be shifted slightly to the left?

This appears to be only a problem with this latest version of Fraxy. I have not yet tried any previous versions, and I have tried importing bosses from the earlier version, with the same results. This is noticeable in game, and this also happens to the stock bosses.

Is there some simple solution to this that is staring me in the face? Or is this "just one of those things" that I will have to live with? As I've spent plenty of time trying to find another post with the same problem.

(strangely enough, I remember trying fraxy a couple of years ago, and having the same problem)

The old version of Fraxy seems to be fine. Can this be fixed? I do have a lot of existing ships I don't wish to have to spend hours converting to fix the offsets, and I don't really want to miss out on the spangly new stuff in the latest versions.

Thank you for reading!

Yup, unfortunately it is a graphical problem that sometimes gets fixed then reappears later as has happened with the last few versions. Another major one is the graphics for the Sonic Wave which will appear malformed if aimed backwards (or is inverted). I'm not sure how it appears in the main game though whether it is a problem with the Editor or with Fraxy in general.

The part Wing 01 shows a gray line, most likely from another part, when you use the turn flag on it as well.

Well, the graphical problem is a Hot Soup issue, and not the game.

[943] Person > In v.20100822beta, the parts are not positioned properly,
[944] Person > but in v.20090204d, the parts are positioned properly.
[945] Person > Image: http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/3176/partpositionerror.png
[946] mon > A graphic just slips a little, therefore value of the position and the angle is normal.
[947] mon > This graphic problem doesn't occur by HSP3.1 and occurs by HSP3.2.
[948] mon > so I can't fix that.

And mon recently put this:

[1038] mon > A system and an addition related to a player are postponement because I'm busy.

So perhaps we should leave him alone for awhile.

Hmmm, never realized that he was actually updating the language as well. Indeed if he's busy then we shouldn't pester him. Nonetheless that was very good info to find. Mystery solved.

I'm having trouble with a try file of mine. It gives me an error message that says:
ErrorCode: 20 (-1) (0)
What does this mean?

Does this happen when trying to open a boss you saved in the editor, or the game?

Any try file or just a specific one? If it's one that's been around for a while, does it work in older versions?

It's a specific one.

Any help would be appreciated.
It's not really fun to just fight normal drones unless there's some sort of objective.
I'm new to try scripting, but I have the general idea.

I think I figured it out.
I noticed your file has the extension in all caps (.FTD). Once I changed it to lowercase (.ftd), it worked. Try it out on your computer and see if it works.
