What the hell Mario, if they made his recovery that much better people will be shot.

Mario is NOT supposed to be a good character!

The fact that they used "recovering" as an update is kind of a ripoff. Anyone who ever played or watched this game knows to recover...

And Mario was not that good. I think. I hope they don't make some characters improve and some don't.

they are going to keep adding those strategies, even if a lot of people know them, get used to it. Ever since the first post where they showed that hitting an enemy sent them flying higher and higher I knew. It's just like the "How to play" demo on the begining of every smash game.

@sonicandfails

where do you figure mario is "not supposed to be a good character"? he's basically been the most versitile character for any given situation in the past two games. But either way all characters are balanced, you just need to know how to use them correctly.

Go do a google video search and you'll find that if you have good timing you can do some pretty amazing saves even in melee. I'm not saying that the recovery distance is exactly the same, but I'm sure they are balancing all characters out.

Mario is NOT supposed to be a good character!

If you play by how good the characters are, then you need to be shot. Using every character strategically is key. For example, if you use Marth, then you get used to predicting players' movements as that character. However, if you change characters to Mario, you get thrown off, and the predictions are kinda skewed. Small things like that are key to mastering every character.

On another note;
Hey, we have to jump to live now?

Take somebody of an average skill and make them play Bowser, Mewtwo, Kirby, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Game and Watch, or Pichu in Melee? They get crushed.

Quit your whining.

I do random character rounds all the time in Melee to hone my skills with every character, so I can kick butt with pretty much every character in the game, including several of the ones you listed.

Plus Pikachu and DK rule.

Yeah, a professional website that updates daily is only supposed to cater to those that have played the game more than 1000 times, right?

Come on. There are more new players than there are hardcore players out there. The Wii is catering to everyone in the family now with recent games. This game is one of the most expected for the Wii, and since there are now new gamers out there that haven't been keeping up with gaming until the Wii, stuff like this is good for everyone.

Although this is still a useful update, I'll admit it's somewhat disappointing. I'm glad they're at least using Meta Knight in the screens now.

Shadic has a point, I use Marth he's pretty badass against most other characters. (Shiek...I will forever HATE you)

But also, Shadic, I have brought this up so many times...
But this time it's a little different.

Any character in the original SSB can be deadly to any other character. Theres movies of pros to prove these things. Just because two characters are cheaper then the others means nothing.

But now. The other day, I was on the SSBM forums and found a video of a guy playing Pichu and beating Ken, the world famous Marth player.

Wait what? Pichu? PICHU?

Yes, even Pichu can be a total cheap player to play as! (Imagine extreme dash avoidance and then attacking 10 minutes later. That's what the movie was like.)

With Pichu being a bottom tier character, I hope that says something about the apparent lack of ballance. Can I have a link to that video?

I don't know, I guess they could balance Melee more, but I think a lot of what is seen as "off balance" is really depth and different strategy.

the dupicate characters in one instance are actually a god send to me, I will use marth if I am fighting against slower people, and roy if against faster. I think if anyone spends enough time with a character they can learn a superior strategy, it just takes more time because you have to learn how fast they are in every aspect, like their jump, standard attack, etc.

Putting in duplicate characters is a cop out
Pichu<->Pikachu
Marth<->Roy (not so much but...)
Mario<->Dr. Mario (clone alert)
Capt. Falcon<->Ganondorf(sp?) (Ganon is super slow and Falcon is super fast yes, but still, the moves are exactly the same, only difference is speed)
Link<->Y. Link (same yet different ...)

Type "Chu Dat pichu" into youtube for many Pichu videos that will blow you away. The specific one that I watched though was a .mov on someones site, it was linked on GameFAQs. I'll have to find it again, it may be on youtube but I'm not looking at the moment.

Yeah... He’s the only character who really hasn’t changed much from his appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee. He’s round, pink, and soft.
Well... if absolutely nothing else, they're honest about Kirby.

Pikachu's little spark looks a bit nicer than in Melee, I think. The floor in Pokemon Stadium is also more textured.

Captin Falcon's speed actualy made up for his light weight and lack of ability to pack a real powerful hit every time. Ganondorf was slow, heavy.. but could hit much harder than Falcon. Also, Falcon's Midair forwards was strongest, Ganondorf's Midair, downwards is strongest.

Ganondorf's moves actualy disappointed me slightly. If he was more like the swordsplay or magic fights from the Zelda games.. It'd be more fun. :/

At least its characters this time. That Pikachu looks much better than the Melee one to me. The Kirby...meh.
