In Video Productions class, my friends and I used to play Scorched Earth all the time, it ruled.

Before that, I probably spent more time in 7th grade math programming QBasic than doing math.

Oh, the Dell buttons. Those were fun.

Ours were on a little thing that popped open to reveal some jacks for USB and headphones, and you can twist them to be either flat or 90' rotated.

Of course, you can also do it right so they pop out.

Dude, we have those at our school too! Heh, student aren't allowed to ahve ROs on our computers... and not because of the legality issues. I brought a ROM hack in on a CD-ROM a few years ago, and everybody, no shit, had roms on their drives allotments. over a gig of roms across the network. And yes, a lot of accounts got disabled (not mine, though. I never kept the roms on my allotment, so I was fine )

I had a substitute teacher last semester that said we were only allowed to play games on the school computer during that period. Yeah, I'm serious. I end up giving most of my classmates all my SNES roms by using my USB flash drive.

That's the best substitute teacher that I ever had before.

We were allowed to play games, but only the ones that come built into Windows like solitaire and pinball. And only in computer class after you're done with your assignment, not in the library. We all got in huge trouble in one class for playing Snood constantly, they made it so that Snood shuts down after a few seconds if you tried to play it.

Heheh, Scorched Earth was still in development back when I was in high school (1995-1998). We used to play it all the time in my Russian class. I think I still have a hacked version with the Riot Bombs changed to "Root Boobs".

Scrapped, FPFS, and Splode are on it now (yay for Digipen(, and I'ma put openTTD on it I think

Yesterday at school, a big group of teachers decided to strike (there's a big contract issue going on in our school district) and we actually ran out of substitutes in the disctrict. There were about 6 classes that didn't have a teacher or sub, so they were all crammed into the library for the poor librarians to supervise.

This made me laugh.

Maybe she couldn't.

My high school worked like this: If you ever have more than 10 absences in any given semester, you WILL take 13th grade.

Meh, if a strike like that happened at my school and there wasn't any teacher in the class I'm in, I probably just leave the school because I can easily drive home.

There is a guy in my school who is always in the library playing ROMs, looking at anime related stuff, and watching You Tube videos. Then he wonders why his X girlfriend is scared of him.(not that his appearance helped).

At school, some people try to get past the filters to access Myspace, YouTube, or LiveJournal (and in one case, Deviantart)

A couple of people I know have also played ROMs on the computers, or tried to use AIM.

Just about everyone in my school uses Myspace. They barely banned it in December and anyone caught in the site would lead to having their account disabled. Everyone just simply use a proxy to get to the site.

I got told that alot, they never did shit about it, though.

as for weird shit related to school, I'm talking to some girl I used to have a crush on in middle school.

thats like a long time ago. its weird.

There hasn't been much randomness and weird shit in the school I'm in now, though. Teachers care alot less about what you do, since its your money you're wasting if you don't pay attention.

although during my first quarter the power went out in the building while my teacher was taking apart a PC, I never heard a teacher scream "OH SHIT" louder in my life. It was lulz

All of my teachers were there, actually. I wasn't affected by it aside from having to sit in the library (my class was using the computers in there) with a huge group of rowdy, teacherless students.

And yeah, if you leave campus without permission, you get in big trouble... plus we have supervisors that watch the parking lot to make sure nobody gets out without being checked.

I put Trillian on my flash drive so I can use IRC and AIM while I'm at school. They say they monitor our activity, but I've never heard of anyone getting in trouble for downloading stuff.

I also enjoy using NET SEND to put dialog boxes on other students' screens to freak them out when I'm bored.

Oh yeah, I got kicked out of that class for trying to recover my files in the DOS Novell utility program. I kid you not.
Ahh... I love people who think command line = hacking tool.

I only recall one recent incident in college, and that was when the whole class was suspected for hacking, for using a Ethernet we weren't allowed to apparently. In the end, none got the blame it seems...

And then we have the wonderful upper secondary school times, when people sometimes nagged me about Kitty porn. Oi. --;

Which is why our school blocks Command Line...

And desktop properties...

And run...

And search...

And everything else they could possibly think of...

Not to mention the "Synchron Eyes" stuff they have in the computer labs... ;(
