The Fraxy IRC channel shall now reside at #fraxy on aoi.irc.djbouche.net. Wiki edits are reported.
That's not to say you should leave #acmlm, just join #fraxy as well.

Wiki post reporting is now active, FYI. More persons need to go in #fraxy. Anyone have suggestions to boost popularity?

Guys, I need suggestions to help improve the Fraxy bot. I'm already working on having it report if there's a new version of Fraxy available, but I'd like some input on other features that are wanted/needed.

On a fun note, see if you can have it greet incoming people to the IRC, like "Hello !"

On a serious note, how about reporting when stuff is uploaded on the fraxy section of the board2 uploader? And/Or perhaps posting in the Fraxy section of board2 like what happens in acmlm.

It already does that.

Alright.

The wiki reports have been updated! The bot now reports whether the edit was marked as "minor", whether a new page was created or if it was just a regular edit, and it reports the edit summary!

By the way, could a mod sticky this thread please? Thanks!

In case anyone cares, there is a small tutorial on getting to the channel on the front page of the Wiki. Of course, if you're registered here, one can use the "IRC Chat" from here.

Actually, I'll update that page to include instructions on how to get there using board2's IRC client.

Page is here: IRC Tutorial

The tutorial assumes several things:

1) One doesn't know how to use IRC.

2) They do not have an IRC client (and don't want to go through the trouble of downloading one).

If anyone wants to suggest improvements to the page, post about it.

IRC is kick-butt. It's basically an inverted instant messenger, where chats are the focus and private messages are not. The only thing is that most people use it like one too, and leave it running 24/7 only to pop in when something catches them.

...We could always offer imaginary free cookies in the channel. I've found the channel to be incredibly useful for exchanging ideas and helping (though more getting help) with making Fraxy bosses.

Idling is one of the core concepts of IRC. Joining a channel signifies your theoretical/potential interest in something that might be discussed in the channel; then, any number of people who are actually interested in something may discuss it and if you see that it's a topic that also interests you, you can read up on what happened up to that point and join in.

It's like the perfectioning of the concept of a forum (in the classical sense).
