Very impressive work so far.

Good job on the intro, that must have taken some careful planning. The text reads a bit fast to keep up with it. Also good job on mimicking some of the enemy AI from Megaman X. Seems like you've got a good degree of mastery of how sprites work in the game, well done. Definitely looking forward to this project so keep up the quality work.

This is so awesome! I played through (and died over and over with Chill Penguin...)
Little things:
A few grammatical errors... Mostly your/you're (although it feels more authentic, Capcom and those localizations...)
The bunnies didn't hurt me.
The snowball thrower gets a little garbled during part of the animation when megaman is moving.

I really love how you "ported" X and friends into the NES megaman universe.

A truly advanced looking hack.

Tested in mednafen 0.8.A on Ubuntu 8.10.

On the bunnie situation, I've been having an odd error when seting the property bits for this particular enemy. I've done this with every enemy and have had success, but for some reason this enemy will not allow me to make it so it can deal damage to Megaman when it comes in contact.

The snowball thrower. heh, i had a feeling someone would walk backwards through the level This glitches because I have the snowball thrower and the bunnie sharing the same gfx loaction. That's why when you just move through the level from left to right, everything seems seemless, but if you walk left and have both the bunnie and snowball thrower on the screen, it will glitch, cause the ppu bank i'm using has both it's gfx sharing it. This is a beta, and I never intended to fix that for this beta. That's the beauty of beta

Thank you very much for your kind comments, and thank you for trying it out

Hey I played this, it's pretty good but Chill Penguin is ZOMG IMPOSSIBLE. Also do the enemies need to be bigger than Megaman? It makes it too easy to cause sprite flickering. =[

Yeah, Chill Penguin is pretty rough, I think it's because the ice blocks explode just a little bit in front of you, so you expect to be able to just jump up to avoid them, but you have to jump up and slightly forward.

Oh well, this is insanely impressive, I've been looking forward to getting to try this out for a long while now, and it's definitely worth the wait.

Some, by no means exhaustive, notes on the intro narrative...

"Stealing your blueprints of X,was not my true intention"
The comma in there is out of place. A space would do; if you want to convey a small break in speech, an ellipsis would do the job in a more correct manner.
Several "your"s in that dialogue also should be replaced with "you're". On the other hand, I'm fairly positive there should be a comma after "How dare you call me by my first name" and "prepare to die".
Did that just read "what has spoken to him by beta X"?
"This by far," --> "This, by far," - or, better yet, move the "by far" beyond the "will be".
"Fight Megaman!" or "Fight, Megaman!" after all?

Compared to the surprising easiness of the first level, Chill Penguin is extremely hard even by Megaman standards. However, the BGM on him just seems not quite ... tense enough for a boss, while, on the other hand, not being relaxed enough for creating an artsy mood dissonance effect either.

The hacking and graphics work is, needless to say, top notch.

I think chill penguin took me about fifteen tried to beat. He's harsh but I'm quite sure he won't be such in the final version.

chill penguin will not be like this in the final. basicly what he is, is a slightly modified version of diveman. I removed his missiles, and replaced the asm with the Dust Crusher, and I changed his body bit property for when he slides towards you, like it is in MMX. But once again, he will not be like this in the final, he will be completly different.

everyone else in this forum, I hope all of you the fans from one fan to another can just accept an apology for whatever damage I may have caused. I feel like i have put the whole project in jeopardy. I want to know this issue can be set asside

This is the most impresive rom hack ive ever seen! u haz 733t asm skilz

The only thing i can complain about is the scene where Dr Willy activates X. Megaman games usally have beautifull drawings, however, it looked really wierd that Willy looked forward when he activated a machine next to him.

Oh, and did you know about this: http://www.gamereproductions.com/products/MegaMan-Ultra.html

YamiMario, WOW thank you for that link. I'm extremely humbled by viewing that. I sound like a broken record, but I'm just still amazed at the dedication and attention Megaman Ultra has received throughout the years from everyone.

Also about the capsule scene, i've had the idea to make it so wily is infront of some sort of CPU activating the capsule. I just never gotten around to it. Plus this CPU will have to be a sprite image since all of my BG tiles are used up by everything you see in that scene.

I'm very impressed by that link too. I hope my MMPD hack is some day considered good enough to put on a real cart like that.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that your work is awesome and inspires me to work harder on my project.

My dear Infidelity, say how far is your hacking process now? I´m just curious how much is done yet.

Thanatos-Zero - progress has been slow, trying to juggle this project and my personal life is pretty hectic, I usually see from 2 to 3 days worth of messing around with the hack, putting in probably a total of near 15-20 hrs a week. My laptop's hdd shit the bed, and I'm short on cash to go out and buy a replacement hdd for it, so that cuts my time even more. But with the time i've had to work with, there's been good progress. I've been writing boss asm from scratch, and getting fantastic results. I've been working on 1 level for months now, but it's 75% complete. After that level is done, progress will increase dramaticly. Thanks for asking
