I don't know if it's possible but i want to ask if is it possible to make sprites of King.exe in 8-bit style. I mean i would need sprites for my MM4. Here's original sprites: http://www.sprites-inc.co.uk/files/EXE/EXE3/Navis/kingman.gif. I just want to put it as Dive Man. If you decide to do it i'll give you more details. Thanks in advance

Possible? Certainly. People have accomplished amazing things with a simple 8-bit palette. I mean, look at the guy who made NES Zelda 1 look like frickin' Link to the Past.

The question is if he's -willing- to do it.

I think to make missle looks like this horse on sprites (I want to use it later as dive man weapon). Firts attack animation could looks that he raising his hands (like in sprites). Second could be similar to heat man attack when he changed place (changed into fire missle). Also if it is possible i want to ask you if you would also do a 8-bit select icon for menu.

Here now first the mugshot.



The sprites will be done, however I recommend to reconsider the replacement for the missle. A horse figurine as rocket may invoke for your hack an imperfect situation. You surely wants the heads flawless, but for that you will need more sprites as the head require them for turning around perfectly.
Are you sure you don't want a pawn as a rocket?

I have good and bad news. Good: The pawn missles and the head of the king were quickly done.
Bad: I can't imagine for myself a proper design for the sprite itself. I am trying to create a design which don't look rediculous, but unique and something which isn't edited out of Diveman.
It drains my energy away, that my brain cannot figure out the perfect design, which use all of the space I have here optimal.
Ugh... It seems I will waste several weeks on it before I get a design which satisfy me, but it will be a design which look bad in the eyes of others.



Perhaps it would be wise to give me advice on that matter.

A King Man with a cloak only will look boring and a knightly appearance with cape will take the chess element away. Also to give him big one quarter sphere shaped feet will look even more pathetic (How can such a shape be practical?!).

Either I have to redo the mugshot by removing the cloak or I have to go with the ludicrous cloak design.
Or it is my own idiocy that prevents me from accepting an easier design.

Edit: Yes! Finally a satisfying design!

I realy like design of this King Man. I think it would fit perfectly. One problem that could be with intput this sprites into rom but i think I'll do it. Anyway I realy thank you for that what you have already done.

I have some suggestions for you if you can do some ASM.

-Make him invincible when he glows golden in his physical attack (weakness will deal 1 damage though)
-The cloak will reflect any weapon except the weakness and a charged shot of the Rock Buster and the Pharaoh Shot.
- He is vulnerable to normal arms when he is going to shot the Pawn Missles. He also suffers +1 Damage when he is hit, while firing them.


I will continue next day when I get the time after my right deserved nap.

Edit: Gors, a god tier in spriting suggested me to remove/reduce the dithering on the rockman sprites, because dithering wasn't used that much in the rockman games in general.

Since there were conflicts with the palette, I have changed the mugshut and the colour of the cape.

I tried to put sprites into rom and i saw that there are two conflicts:
1. Fourth and Fifth row of phrase when dive man shoots missle is same (uses same sprites in Tile Layer Pro). As you see only row when you can see hole.
2. I've got also other problem with width of some tiles. I mean for second third and fourth row Tile Layer Pro uses only 3 8x8 block wich makes impossible to make moment when King Man raising his 2 hands.

To show you my problem I've made some sketches and form wich are actualy used In Tile Layer Pro for Dive Man



Same colors near sketch means same sprites for row are using in Tile Layer Pro. The numbers means how many 8x8 block are creating one row. Red numbers near King Man sketch mean that you use too many 8x8 blocks. For help you change it faster i made correct sketch for King Man.

I know that this is annoying but there isn't other way to put sprites that you created correctly into rom. Of coure i can draw it into rom in empty space but I can't figure how to make that Dive Man will use that sprites drawn in other place (I don't think it's possible).

Rest sketches for attack when he move into megaman are correctly and there's no reason to change them. I just only had problem with those you're actualy can see.

I think that those too can be used. I tested them on game and they looked pretty nice so just only two to change for pawn attack. It seems that those too have to be nearly same so my suggestion is to make this canon a bit lower in that piece that isn't same.

As far as i remember last sprite when Dive man makes his dash attack is using mirror effect (higher part is mirror illusion of lower) but I'll try to look at this sketch and eventually change it quite (sprites for Dive Man in Tile Layer Pro for dash attack are realy crazy). Anyway this sprites for first attack are fully completed and they fits without any problem.

EDIT: As I suposed Dive Man sprites in dash attack are using some mirror effect. To show them I've made another sketch:



It was hard to do it but it's already done. Mirror effect of sprites is only used when Dive Man stang in front or behind. Some explanation: dark green line shows parts that are mirrored, red line just divide parts of Dive Man and yellow shows sprites that are not actualy mirrored (they are behind it). I also changed a bit sketch for Dive Man when he starts dash. Rest of sprites works great (I tested first attack and soon, when i'll finish King Man level I'll show how it works).

Don't tell me that I have to redo all the sprites for the Shining Flying Golden Fist Spin Attack. For Diveman's own sprites they worked fine, but the Kingman who makes use of that attack will obviously need more space. When I am going to redo them, the quality will just go below of what I originally intentioned. I think it is time that you learn on your side to install the sprites in the way they are into the hack.
It was your intention to learn ASM, so make that to your homework to install this


into the rom flawlessly. It will take time for sure, but you will learn nice things, which will prove for yourself useful in the future.

I may have no idea how I tell the computer software to do things, but you can do it.
Ask the PRO's on Romhacking.net for the advice you need!

However, I will do nonetheless the last remaining sprite for you.

Hiya.
I'm part of a team that wants to translate to English the MOTHER 2 portion of the game MOTHER 1+2 for the GBA. Super-Awesome Tomato already translated the MOTHER 1 part of the game, and we want to finish what he started. However, we will need to edit some graphics. Since the ROM programming is so crappy, we have no intention to repoint stuff, even though we can, since we have megs and megs of blank space in the ROM. (And the truth is that, we tried, but the game barfed everytime we did that )
So, I figured that Mr. Thanatos-Zero could help us, since he's a talented spriter and stuff. Of course, he'll get credit when the patch is finished.
We don't want anything really hard. We just need to change the little text that says "Gyiyg No Fukushu!" into "Gyiyg Returns", since "Gyiyg Strikes Back" is too big.
Many of us tried doing it on MS-Paint, but it's no good. It's too little. And if, by some chance, we manage to get something, it looks really ugly.
So here's hoping a pro can help us.
This is the sprite we need to edit.



Dunno 'bout the pallete, but this is how it should look.

I need 8bit and 16bit 16x32 Hebereke sprites with poses for Super Mario World, Based off the Famicom Game's Graphics

If you make these, I can also modify them to SMB3 and SMB1 8bit GFX, will give credit if needed!

I use YY-CHR for console graphics, but resizing is such a pain for the 24x32 versions I have,

Thanks for finishing that last sprite. It helps me a lot because I'm working at put them into rom. I also tried to look at ASM to see to look how to made that enemy is using given sprite (maybe i'll ask someone who's good at it). Anyway thanks for help again and for done sprites.
