Kiro, I cleaned up my desktop. It took a little while as I had to reassign all my torrents by hand to where I moved there files to so I could continue seeding them. That's one of a bunch of wallpapers on a cycle. Also, I stopped having my other monitor hooked up so I could move around more.

Okay, that's not entirely true, I just turned off icon display because I only ever used the desktop as a convenient /temp/ folder anyway, and just get to it via "start -> my computer -> .." now.

Now now, don't twist the problem around like that. We were talking about backgrounds. It's no good changing your desktop background image if all those icons are obscuring it. A good desktop, be it real or an abstraction on your computer is best when uncluttered, regardless of what the desktop itself looks like.

Perhaps ironically, my real desktop is a mess

I like a clean Desktop!

Gnome 2.30.2 (with Epiphany Browser and Audacious playing Dawn of Sorrow 2sf...) with some widgets on the panel...

P.S. I know the wallpaper is boring (just a solid color) but I find it less distracting, plus it makes for a nice small screenshot

The blandness of that desktop notwithstanding, you have rather large fonts. Is that just your panel or did you raise the dpi values for everything?

Well it's better than decreasing the resolution, which is what most people do when "text is too small".

Someone looked at me all confused when I suggested to make the text bigger a few years at the university I studied, as his laptop screen was all... blurry. :/
