I don't think it would hurt to have a thread like this. In fact, I believe this board, or the previous one before it, had a thread like this. This is good for people who have ideas and want to share them, to help others with their hacks, and/or get criticism on whether an idea is good or not, to decide whether it is good for their hack.

I want to start this off by asking you guys if this is a good idea:

I've been watching The Dark Knight lately, and the movie was really good, and I was thinking, would a new series for Mega Man be good? A Mega Man series that is more serious, and goes in a different direction?

For example:

Hack 1 - Mega Man Begins

How Rock became Mega Man. The final boss is Wily.

Hack 2 - The Blue Bomber

Mega Man has been fighting for a while. An all-new villain is introduced.

None of this constant Wily crap that has been going on, even though that is what makes Mega Man great, as I said, I could take Mega Man in a different new direction.

If you guys think a new Mega Man series like this is a good idea, please let me know, and I will consider it.

And please, if you have any ideas you'd like to offer others, to help them with their hacks, and/or try to get ideas for your hacks, feel free to post.

Ideas are what make new innovative hacks possible.

I'll throw in my two cents, a MM hack that'll use the robots from MM5 for the GB. Making the hack like sorta a sequel to the game, I'm not sure if MM5 or MM6 would be better to use. ^^'

Googie and I have been talking about hack ideas lately. I asked him if he could come up with a cool idea for SMB3, and he said, how about using the Tanooki Suit as a magnet, and when the enemies touch Mario, they die. I thought that was a great idea, so I got to work on it.

And thus, Magnet Mario was born!

Oh, and by the way, the reason the giant ? block goes is because it is treated like an enemy. If you look in SMB3 Workshop, you'll know what I'm talking about.

That's neat, I'll have to think up another power up for Mario, right now I gotta sleep. ^^'

I actually wouldn't mind a crazy-ass series of remakes of the Rockman World games! =)

1) Mega Man World: Dr. Wily's Revenge

2) Mega Man World 2: Mysterious Time Traveler

3) Mega Man World 3: Power from the Earth

4) Mega Man World 4: The Robot Heist

5) Mega Man World 5: Menace from Beyond

And, there's one I always wanted to do:

6) Mega Man 3: Story of the Blues
An extensive hack featuring Protoman's side of the story.

5) Mega Man World 5: Menace from Beyond

This one would especially be awesome. It's definitely in my top 3 favorite Mega Man games. If it were on the NES it would probably be my overall favorite.

Ya know, what would be beyond awesome is if we knew enough about MMX to create remakes of the 8-bit games for SNES!

Maybe the thread should be renamed to Megaman Hacks Ideas...

Har Har. That's just the current trend in rom hacking, kind of like how everyone was making SMB3 hacks for a while.

It's going to be RPG hacks soon, what with the SoM and SMRPG editors on the rise...
Can't wait to see what comes out of this!

Speaking of RPG games I always wanted to hack Final Fantasy 1, with all the notes and utilities available, I should really look at them again. The story is in my head, I was aiming for a dark comedy route. ^__^'

I, being the lover of retro & remakes would love to bring FF1 up to the standards of the Anniversary remakes. There are a lot of things I'd love to tweak FF1, 2, & 3.

Speaking of Final Fantasy... I'd love to add all the upgrades they gave to the GBA & DS versions of 4, 5, & 6 to the SNES versions & add some more stuff!

I'd like to also finish my SMW hack.

So much to do! Sometimes I wish I was a vampire! V_V

Recently i was thinking of a NES Megaman hack which makes you play Zero from the X series, not just graphics-wise, but gameplay-wise. You can wall-jump, double-jump, and as you defeat bosses you get "moves" similar to those in MMX 4-8.
Megaman 2's engine could be the coolest to use as base, with or without level remakes.

I like that idea, it's pretty hot. Someone was trying to do a MM2 hack but with MMX, too bad that hack died a silent death...

Whoever the author was, was on the right track. Those edited sprites look pretty smooth.

Believe it or not, that was my hack. Not much of a hack as you can see. I attempted to port the MMXtreme X sprites over, but stopped when I couldn't fit the sprites into Megaman's sprite space. The Xtreme sprites required more space than there already was. I think I did this back when TEK was around.

I never hacked Metroid before. But I downloaded it, and I was looking through it. What kind of ASM hacks can be done to it? I couldn't think of anything to be honest with you, but then again, I never really played through the whole game. I couldn't tell you how long the game is. I'm sure someone already removed those bubble doors that you have to shoot open.

It does, cause it's been done years ago. I think Parasyte made it? Shoot me an e-mail and I'll send it to you...

I'd love to see a Battle City hack that when you get the shield, and an enemy hits you, it reflects back to them killing'em. ^_______^'

LO: An idea for a Metroid hack, lemme see... How about taking an item from one of the later games, like when Samus gets that jiggamabobba that after a few seconds, she flashes and whatever enemy she touches dies. ^^'

Now that you mentioned Tek, I remember a thread you made when I used to lurk the forums in 2003.

Hells yeah! I'll definitely take that offer!

As for an ASM hack, how about adding more weapons or maybe even the wepon combo system that SM(M3) had?

Quoting elixirnova from romhacking.net:

"Re: MegaMan X3 Editor

I have lots of the editor working and an incredible amount of data. I will probably not be continuing until next semester.
If anyone wants any data/source code just ask, feel free to work on it! I too want to see an X editor which is why I'm doing it!! But not for a couple months.
E-mail me if you want anything as I do not visit here often right now."

Not really an idea, but the MegaMan fans on this board might be interested in helping this guy.
