How does one go about unmirroring the mirror effect on mario and other sprites?
Like when he's standing still big or small mario has mirrowed arms and legs. I want to add a side view stand instead of a front view stand.

That, or a simple byte change, or two. I would recommend doing it with FCEUXD. That way you get the practice. Using a tool like this, you won't learn anything.

the easiest way to "unmirror" a certain tile is to put it in the ROM backwards, so then when it's loaded into the game it looks right. you'll need a tile editor for that.

a more complicated way is to find the code in the game where it sets the mirror attribute and disable those commands

I've changed it to not be flipped on one of my hacks but on the lives screen it doesn't flip for some reason...

the lives screen has different mario display code so you have to change it there too. iirc it draws the whole mario sprite cause i hacked it to draw diff sprites based on mario's size state
