Hey guys, I need some advice on my Mega Man 2 hack (MM: Fully Loaded). I thought of the idea for my hack, back in June, I started coding it, I lost interest pretty quickly, but that was okay, because I had to restart the project anyway, because I needed the buttons I already coded, for something else. I restarted the project in the beginning of August, and I have done a tremendous amount of coding, but I've been thinking to myself, is all of it really necessary? Most of what I coded, all of these new features, aren't really needed. They are more of a "coolness" factor. I have successfully coded the engine to be like Mega Man ZX Advent, with 2 minor exceptions. I haven't coded the swap of the PPU graphics, because the game uses CHR-RAM, and I added something that ZX doesn't have, the ammo system, which is basically putting an 8-bullet limit, but you can easily reload by pressing up. And you can't switch back and forth between Normal and Mega Man until you aquire a DNA chip, which I am using the 1-UP sprite for.

Also, something that no other MM hack has done before, the Flashlight. Successfully coded. Hold down and press select to light up the area. But is it really necessary? I have also coded costume changes. In the final levels of the game, Dash will have matured through his adventure, and be wearing cooler "clothes" (palette changes based on level). I'm not coding the PPU graphics swap, because of the CHR-RAM, and that really puts a big dent in my plans, because I needed that to happen. Instead, I am using a palette change, which you can see. I coded a whole new block of code for the jumping sound. I coded a whole routine for the title screen, which sets the auto-reload on or off. All of my code is neat and clean, and is precise. I tried adding CHR-ROM to the end of my ROM, but when I did, the ROM shows blank graphics when you load it, but the game is really running. All you have is a black screen. I wanted to try to do the graphics swap with CHR-ROM swap, since CHR-RAM is harder to do.

Basically, I need some advice. What should I do with this? Should I continue with this, or release it and make something more simple? This is 2 months of really hard work and planning, even though it doesn't look like much. Most of the work was in the ASM code, which there must be at least 500 bytes, if not more, of code. Plus, the sewer level is in Heatman's stage, when it should probably be in Bubble Man's stage.

You took out the video, you hadda had your reasons.

You did all that work, I'd say continue with it. Keep the flashlight, but make it that if you're almost running out shut it off so it can recharge (I think Half Life does that).

If anything, I'll try to come up with more ideas. See ya's... ^^'
